Spoon River College has entered into agreements with various colleges whereby those colleges reserve a specific number of spots for SRC students in career programs not offered by Spoon River College. Currently, the eligible programs are:
Program DescriptionSpoon River College has an agreement with Carl Sandburg College to offer an Associate in Applied Science degree in Dental Hygiene. Spoon River College students may take the general education requirements at Spoon River College and the major requirements at Carl Sandburg College.
Nature of WorkDental hygienists remove soft and hard deposits from teeth, teach patients how to practice good oral hygiene, and provide other preventative dental care, such as cleaning and polishing teeth, taking radiographs, and applying fluoride treatment. The dental hygienist also serves as an oral health educator in the clinical and community setting. Dental hygienists should work well with others and must have good manual dexterity to use dental instruments within a patient's mouth, with little room for error.
Program DescriptionSpoon River College has an agreement with Illinois Central College to offer an Associate in Applied Science Paramedic degree. Spoon River College students may take the general education requirements at Spoon River College and the major requirements at Illinois Central College.
Nature of WorkThis program is designed for individuals who want to develop skills focusing on basic life support in the field, as well as provide initial assessment and management of care for the ill and injured from the pre-hospital setting to the emergency or hospital care environments. Students will be able to take the EMT-Basic certification exam and the Illinois EMT-Intermediate Licensure Examination upon completion of the curriculum.
Certificate & DegreeThe Paramedicine program offers an Emergency Medical Technician certificate. Spoon River College, in agreement with Illinois Central College, offers an Associate in Applied Science Degree in Paramedicine. This program is part of the Health Science Career Cluster.

Nature of WorkRadiologic technologists and technicians take x-rays and administer nonradioactive materials into patients' bloodstreams for diagnostic purposes. Some specialize in diagnostic imaging technologies, such as computerized tomography (CT) and magnetic resonance imaging (MRI).

Spoon River College students may take the general education requirements at Spoon River College and the major requirements at Southeastern Community College.
Nature of WorkRespiratory therapists and respiratory therapy technicians—also known as respiratory care practitioners—evaluate, treat, and care for patients with breathing or other cardiopulmonary disorders. Practicing under the direction of a physician, respiratory therapists assume primary responsibility for all respiratory care therapeutic treatments and diagnostic procedures, including the supervision of respiratory therapy technicians.
