Description POSITION: Counselor II - Certified
RESPONSIBILITIES: This position reports to the Program Manager and Assistant Manager. The Counselor will develop client treatment plan, provide individual, family, and crisis intervention counseling. Facilitate specialized group sessions, establish and maintain clients records. Schedule individual and group sessions with clients on caseload to monitor progress, and document client status. The Counselor will be responsible for making appropriate referrals for clients during treatment and for after care follow up. Will maintain internal logs and submit monthly statistical data to Program Manager. Prepare progress and discharge/termination letters for social workers and the court system. Counselor will also conduct social and recreational activities with clients and serve as a guide to self sufficiency and a lifestyle free of substance use. Counselor will be responsible for a clients total interface with system of services. Counselor will perform other duties as assigned by Program Manager.
Qualifications REQUIREMENTS: Must possess strong documentation skills and have the ability to counsel on substance abuse and related issues. Must be motivated and possess the ability to project a responsible attitude to clients. Good communication skills and verbalization of work a requisite. Must be computer knowledgeable of Microsoft applications. Bilingual skills (English/Spanish) highly desired. If a recovering addict, a minimum of three years drug free are mandatory.
OTHER REQUIREMENTS: Must possess a dependable automobile, fully insured and a valid California Drivers License. Must submit to and pass a urinalysis test and a criminal background clearance as a pre-condition to employment. Must be able to provide proof of COVID-19 vaccination and booster, TB test and Hepatitis B. BLS/CPR certification required.
QUALIFICATIONS: Must have a Chemical Dependency Certificate AND/OR current CADC and no less than two (2) years experience in substance abuse counseling or related field including client assessment, development of treatment plan, monitoring and evaluation.
