DESCRIPTION OF POSITION The Medical Staff Credentialing Specialist, under the supervision of the Medical Staff Manager, is responsible to credential providers for their initial application and bi-annual reappointments to the Morris Hospital Medical Staff. This position is vital to our organization because it will ensure credentialing is being done in a thorough and timely manner. With one point of contact for all credentialing concerns, questions and issues from both providers and hospital employees can be resolved quickly and correctly. This person will be a subject matter expert on all things, credentialing and on-boarding related. The average time to process a file will significantly decrease with full attention being placed on credentialing. QUALIFICATIONS Professional/Educational Current certification by the National Association of Medical Staff Services as CPMSM (Certified professional in Medical Services Management) or CPCS (Certified Provider Credentialing Specialist) is preferred. Working knowledge of regulatory agency requirements and the Medical Staff Bylaws. Strong computer knowledge- be able to adapt to credentialing software as required. A degree in business or health-related field is desired or equivalent years of experience. Personal High Organizational Skills. Demonstrates Confidentiality and is Self-Motivated. Possesses the ability to work under pressure. Is able to be flexible when situations demand. Works effectively with others; possessing tact, discretion and diplomacy.
