Under the direction of the Crisis Intervention Supervisor, this position serves as a crisis intervention coordinator, responsible for carrying out a broad range of investigative and trauma informed intervention activities to assist individuals in crisis while demonstrating dignity and respect, improving the safety of officers, individuals in crisis, their family members, and other members of the community.

The role participates in building relationships and awareness of Crisis Intervention with the community, local neighborhoods and with internal staff.

The CIT Coordinator I duties include increasing the effectiveness of the CIT Program while ensuring the program is conveying goodwill and trustworthiness throughout Franklin County Public Health (FCPH), with external partners and throughout Franklin County and the community. This position focuses on providing excellent customer service to internal and external customers in accordance with the mission, core values, and purposes of Franklin County Public Health.

Duties Include: Responds as part of the public safety team to provide therapeutic psychological assessment, crisis intervention, counseling, de-escalation, and social services linkage. Routinely assist CIT Officers and CIT Coordinator II in the field. Acts as the liaison between the department, community and other helping professional and agencies to develop and maintain effective working relationships. Develops and maintains partnerships with internal and external stakeholders. Familiarizing self and Specialized CIT Officers with neighborhoods and culture in which citizens live and engage in on-going relationship and trust-building efforts. Collaborates with Care Coordination and Behavioral Health and Addiction Services to link individuals to services that helps prevent homelessness, mental health, and substance abuse issues in the community by addressing the social determinants of health and providing peer support recovery options. Collaborates with health and social service professionals as needed to ensure holistic approaches to coordination of care and case management. Builds relationships and awareness of Crisis Intervention with the community. Assists, educates, informs, and empowers under-represented populations in the community including vulnerable communities, refugees, and immigrant populations about crisis intervention, mental health, and addiction services. May provide case management to include evaluating the needs of clients, developing, and implementing service plans and monitoring progress. Implements and provides services in person, including assessments, treatment plans, clinical/crisis counseling, consultation, support, information, and appropriate referrals for families and victims of crime to help clients mobilize capacity and resources to improve social functioning. Enters all client information into a secure database that maintains client confidentiality, maintains confidential client files. Participates on internal and external committees and workgroups related to areas of expertise. Participates in program evaluation, Collects and maintains statistical data on crisis incidents handled by FCSO. Utilizes appropriate methods for interacting effectively and professionally with persons of all ages and from diverse cultural, socioeconomic, educational, racial, and ethnic backgrounds, sexual orientations, lifestyles, and physical abilities. Crisis Intervention II Responds as part of the public safety team to provide therapeutic psychological assessment, crisis intervention, counseling, de-escalation, and social services linkage. Develops and maintains partnerships with program stakeholders; serving as a point of contact with advocates, individuals, families, caregivers, professionals, and others associated with the mental health and substance use community. Routinely assist CIT Officers in the field. Familiarizing self and Specialized CIT Officers with neighborhoods and culture in which citizens live and engage in on-going relationship and trust-building efforts. Collaborates with Care Coordination and Behavioral Health and Addiction Services to link individuals to services that helps prevent homelessness, mental health, and substance abuse issues in the community by addressing the social determinants of health and providing peer support recovery options. Consults with physicians or other health and social service professionals as needed to ensure holistic approaches and coordination of care and case management. Works with the Franklin County Sheriff's Office (FCSO) to regularly, but no less than annually, solicit feedback from Specialized CIT Officers, the mental health community, and community regarding the efficacy of FCSO CIT program and ways in which FCSO can continuously improve relationships with the community. Conducts individual, family and group therapy sessions in accordance with the established treatment plan and provides crisis intervention as necessary. Enters all client information into a secure database that maintains client confidentiality, maintains confidential client files. Builds relationships and awareness of Crisis Intervention with the community, local and stakeholder groups. Provides expert advice and technical assistance to communities and external partners with respect to CIT activities. Effective advice and assistance require the application of program expertise to complex public health issues, with an understanding of the appropriate cultural/social/political framework, as well as the ethical/legal issues related to crisis intervention protocols and dissemination of information. Attends community meetings and develops presentations about traumatic events, grief and/or loss, and other initiatives deemed appropriate and necessary. Conducts literature reviews for program planning, for preparation of publications, and for evaluation. Designs and prepares reports from analyses of surveillance data, literature reviews, and other information. Makes oral presentations to diverse audiences. Participates in writing grants and other funding proposals and develops requests for proposals and contracts for CIT analysis and evaluation projects. Participates on internal and external committees and workgroups related to areas of expertise. Participates in program evaluation, Collects and maintains statistical data on crisis incidents handled by FCSO and provides an annual report to make on-going improvements to the FCSO response to crisis incidents. May provide technical leadership, guidance and coordinate work of CIT Coordinator I, other professional staff, or technical and administrative staff, as assigned. Requirements:

Crisis Intervention Social Worker I Bachelor's degree in social work. 3 years' directly related experience. Demonstrated ability to work independently and to take initiative and work collaboratively as part of a team; Possess strong evaluation skills, excellent professional written and verbal communication skills, interpersonal skills, and active listening skills. Current licensure with the State of Ohio as a Licensed Social Worker (LSW) Ohio Driver's License. Master's degree in social work or other social service program preferred. Licensed Independent Social Worker (LISW); or Marriage & Family Therapist Board as a Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor, or Licensed Professional Counselor preferred. Trauma Informed Care Certificate preferred. Crisis Intervention Social Worker II Master's degree in social work or other social service program. 1 year directly related experience. Demonstrated ability to work independently and to take initiative and work collaboratively as part of a team; Possess strong evaluation skills, excellent professional written and verbal communication skills, interpersonal skills and active listening skills. Current licensure with the State of Ohio as a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW); or Licensed Independent Social Worker (LISW); or Marriage & Family Therapist Board as a Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor, or Licensed Professional Counselor. Ohio Driver's License. Trauma Informed Care certificate preferred. Hiring Salary: $27.96/hour - $32.85/hour for Crisis Intervention Social Worker I. $29.79/hour - $35.00/hour for Crisis Intervention Social Worker II. This is a non-exempt position.
