The College is governed by a Board of Trustees appointed by the governor. Cecil offers a variety of associate degree and certificate programs.Through its open admissions policy, Cecil College provides learning opportunities for all who have the desire and ability to benefit from its courses and programs, regardless of age, gender, ethnic origin, sexual orientation, disability, or socioeconomic status.Employees of Cecil College, including instructors for online and virtual courses, must be residents of Maryland or the contiguous states of Delaware, Pennsylvania, Virginia, West Virginia, or the District of Columbia.Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the US, as the College does not offer Visa sponsorships.GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIESThe Custodian is responsible for maintaining campus facilities in a safe and efficient manner through the following duties:SPECIFIC DUTIES1.Cleans building spaces through daily assignment.2.Vacuums classrooms, hallways, furniture, and common areas.3.Cleans bathrooms.4.Dusts assigned areas.5.Washes windows.6.Cleans tables.7.Removes trash and recyclables and disposes of in proper receptacles.8.Sweeps and mops floors.9.Buffs, strips, and waxes floors.10.Monitors supplies levels in custodial closets.11.Participates in all required safety and occupational training.12.Ensures compliance with all local, state, and federal safety and environmental regulations.13.Ensures compliance with all College rules and policies.14.Assists other departments as required.15.Other duties as assigned.REQUIREMENTS•Education: High school diploma or equivalent.•Experience: Prior custodial experience preferred. Employment experience in a college or university setting is preferred.•Proficiencies: Ability to work well with others throughout the campus community.•Scheduling Requirements: Ability to work a flexible schedule during inclement weather, and special events that may require evening, Saturday and Sunday work hours.•Physical Demands: Must be able to lift and move up to a maximum of 50 lbs. The physical activity of this position includes, but is not limited to: climbing, walking, stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, standing, pulling, lifting, grasping, twisting and sitting.•Other Requirements: The worker will be subject to dust, noise, fumes, and odors. The worker will be exposed to inside and outside environmental conditions. The budgeted range for the position is $16.46-$17.46.
