The successful candidate will be responsible for the operational and strategic management of the organization's development, working to secure support from a variety of donors, including individuals, corporations, and foundations. This role requires a passionate individual with a minimum of 7 years' experience in development, including a focus on major gifts and donor communications. The Development Director will be instrumental in fostering belief in the importance of nature for children's health and development, growing the movement of children and nature advocates, and changing core systems to enhance nature connection in children's daily lives.
Key responsibilities for the Development Director include collaborating with the CEO to execute philanthropic plans, managing and tracking development operations, and leading the Development team in all aspects of fundraising. The ideal candidate will have a collaborative management style, a proven track record in donor relationship management, and the ability to create and implement strategies that expand the donor base. They should be highly organized, possess exceptional communication skills, and be adept at managing both relationships and systems. A proactive approach, the ability to work both autonomously and collaboratively, and a commitment to equity and inclusion are essential. The role also involves periodic travel for donor meetings and events.
