POSITION OVERVIEW
The Director Emergency Medical Services oversees the EMS System and EMS Programs in collaboration with the EMS Medical Director under the guidelines of the State of Indiana EMS Commission and Requirements for EMS program accreditation. This position is also responsible for the coordination of the American Heart Association training center courses, instructors, and faculty as well as the coordination of the hospital Emergency Preparedness Program to ensure compliance with HFAP requirements.
WHAT YOU CAN EXPECT Conduct and oversee bimonthly emergency preparedness meetings and report data to the safety committee and QAPI Attend bimonthly EMS commission Meetings and District EMS coordinator meetings Conduct and oversee monthly EMS provider audit and review meetings and report data to the EMS medical director Create, complete and submit Indiana State course applications, reports of training and accreditation annual reports Develop the annual departmental plan, ensuring the provision of care and scope of services. Lead the periodic updates/revisions to the strategic plan and ensures it is in alignment with the organizational strategic plan Develop and ensure adherence to EMS medical protocols by EMS providers Develop and manage departmental budgets, including making budget allocations, approving expenditures and ensuring expenses are within budget Evaluate, create, and provide drills and educational opportunities concerning Emergency Preparedness concerning HFAP requirements Maintain HFAP chapter 9 portfolio concerning drills, educational opportunities, and data collection Oversee, develop, and provide paramedic program curricula according to state and accreditation guidelines Provide training and educational opportunities to hospital staff and EMS providers in regards to AHA and NAEMT courses Serve as a liaison between hospital administration and EMS Providers concerning emergency preparedness, education, and operations Serve as AHA Training center coordinator and directs operations to include oversight of instructors, curriculum and data collection Supervise managers and/or supervisors within the Department and manage the performance of individuals through ongoing coaching, feedback and development to motivate, engage and drive a high performing team. QUALIFICATIONS Bachelor's degree in Emergency Services - Required - OR - 10+ years related experience In Lieu of Degree - Licensed Emergency Services Professional Required - AND - 5 years' experience in both EMS Education & EMS Management -Required -AND- Basic Life Support Instructor (BLSINST) - American Heart Association - Required -AND- Licensed Paramedic (PARA) - Required -AND- Pediatric Advanced Life Support Instructor (PALSI) -Required-AND- Prehospital Trauma Life Support Course (PHTLS) - Required -AND- Exercise Physiologist Cert (EPC) TRAVEL IS REQUIRED:
