Position Summary: The Director, Finance – Alternative Risk Solutions will report directly to the U.S. CFO, with a matrix to business leadership. This role will oversee the unit's financial operations and strategic planning, focusing on captive solutions, fronting opportunities, and the development of future growth capabilities in alternative risk transfer mechanisms, including structured risk solutions, parametric products, and loss portfolio transfer products. The ideal candidate will have a growth mindset and the ability to financially guide the development of creative risk solutions to the complex problems of our valued trading partners.
Primary Responsibilities and Duties: Partner with underwriting, finance, and reinsurance operations functions to provide business performance and insights as we look to build for long-term value. Work directly with the US executive leadership team to evaluate and propose mutually beneficial deal economics with potential trading partners including captive managers. Perform all finance business partner duties including monthly/quarterly financial statements preparation and analytics, participate in profitability reviews across internal stakeholders, financial planning & analysis, and ad-hoc reporting. Serve as the primary financial contact for trading partners, and partner with the US executive team on driving long-term value creation and business strategy. Collaborate with internal/external parties on the transactional aspects of the business including reinsurance agreements, changes to collateral, bookings, etc. Coordinate captives credit review to limit financial risk. Partner with Treasury on trust fund review, monitoring, and cash flows. Participate with the reinsurance operations leader to stand up the ceding arrangement pre- and post-implementation of our reinsurance solution. Develop multi-year financial projections that have documented strategies and action plans for delivery. Coordinate the timely handling of cash flows including premiums, claim recoverables, and collateral. Monitor existing collateral for adequacy. Other financial assignments assisting the broader Ascot US enterprise as needed. Requirements: Bachelor's Degree in Accounting/Finance. CPA is a plus. At least 8 years of insurance leadership and people management experience in insurance accounting and finance. Experience with Alternative Risk products required. Motivational leadership skills, a track record of driving for results, and collaborating effectively in a team environment. Adept at building key stakeholder relationships externally and internally. Superior oral, written, and presentation skills with the ability to influence decisions. Demonstrated business savvy with strong strategic, analytical, and quantitative skills, and internal thought leadership. Skilled leader of change; versatile, client-focused, results-oriented. Strong problem-solving and conflict resolution skills; ability to challenge effectively both people and portfolio strategy with the ability to effect change where appropriate. Strong influencing and communication skills and ability to work across multiple areas of the company and industries. Expert in operational and transactional excellence. Ability to travel as needed and with short notice. Compensation Actual base pay could vary and may be above or below the listed range based on factors including but not limited to experience, subject matter expertise, and skills. The base pay is just one component of Ascot's total compensation package for employees. Other rewards may include annual cash bonus, long-term incentives, and other forms of discretionary compensation awarded by the Company.
