The Nonprofit Institute (NPI) at the College of Southern Maryland is the premier source of professional development and capacity-building for the diverse array of nonprofits serving the Southern Maryland region. NPI is a valued resource and thought partner in advancing the critical mission and services of non-profits, and in doing so, greatly contributes to the region's economic vitality and our community's social mobility. The Director will lead initiatives that align the mission of NPI within the college's strategic plan, supporting our most vulnerable populations through increased access, community partnerships, and workforce development opportunities. The Director will also work closely with local nonprofits to build their capacity by helping improve their management/leadership practices and skills, enhance their resource gathering ability, and foster collaboration with other similar organizations.

Essential Functions:
Develop and lead all NPI initiatives and align with college's strategic priorities.
Provides consultation with nonprofits in the areas of management, leadership, fundraising, strategic planning, board development, volunteer management and marketing.
Assists in and encourages collaboration among local nonprofit organizations as a way of reducing overlap and increasing effectiveness.
Plans and facilitates affinity group meetings with local nonprofit organizations.
Conduct ongoing training needs assessments of nonprofit organizations.
Develops and delivers training that meets the identified needs of area nonprofits.
Identify Instructors and ensure the costing and promotion guidelines are met.
Runs rosters, creates personal pay contracts (PPI's), MOU's, and LOA's.
Develop content for social media channels and monthly e-newsletter.
Provides supervision and leadership for the CSM Annual Nonprofit Institute Conference.
Collaborates with other CSM departments to develop programs and services.
Represent the Nonprofit Institute at conferences, meetings, and other community events.
Develops data collection and reporting tools.
Contributes to annual college wide strategic planning process; assists with development of the unit's strategic plan.
Follows the continuing education production timeline to ensure timely scheduling of classes.
Creates new classes (CC10's) and ensures courses meet reporting requirements.
Processes course master changes as needed and ensures accuracy of data entered for all codes, hours, billing, and eligibility of state funding codes.
Create and execute monthly training contracts for professional development programs.
Develops annual program budget; initiates requisitions; forecasts program changes and adjusts to minimize financial shortfalls; analyzes financial data and takes appropriate action to achieve results.
Regularly communicates financial and deliverable status of training courses, grants and contracts, problems, and new training opportunities to the Executive Director of Adult and Community Education.
Supervise departmental staff, as appropriate.

Additional Duties:
Performs other related work as required.

Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in relevant field required.
5+ years leadership experience in the nonprofit sector.
Experience with the development and delivery of educational and training programs.
Experience in strategy, program design and/or capacity building (organizational development) and fundraising for nonprofits.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Experience working in diverse communities and across social, economic, and cultural differences.
Proven ability to establish collaborative relationships with stakeholders.
Strong oral and written communication skills with colleagues, customers, and public audiences.
Understanding of current issues and trends in the nonprofit sector.
Ability to coordinate a broad range of activities and projects.

Physical Requirements:
The work is sedentary work which requires exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or negligible amount of force frequently or constantly.
