Santa Monica, CA 90401, USA The Director of Sales and Marketing is responsible for directing all group, transient, and catering/banquet sales activities to maximize revenue for the hotel. This position oversees the Sales, Marketing, Catering and Convention Services department. The Director of Sales holds a seat on the Executive Committee and reports directly to the General Manager.
General Responsibilities Include: Oversee all group inquiries including rooms with meetingsSell group bookings through solicitation of new and existing accounts to meet/exceed revenue goals through telephone solicitation, outside sales calls, client entertainment, site inspections and written communicationPrepare, implement, compile data for and manage the strategic sales planWork and directly communicate with ownership on a continuous basisPrepare and execute annual market plansDevelop Sales and Marketing and Catering budget and forecastGroup ceilings and strategies through review of competitive dataDemand analysis and mix managementRecruit, direct, manage, train and counsel staffActively participate in sales presentationsConduct property tours, site visits and customer meetingsConduct/attend meetings as appropriate to the positionCommunicate progress, obstacles and promotions with the executive committee to ensure full alignment.Regularly evaluate future or advanced performance or process issues relating to group booking pace, backlog, reservations pace, rate yielding or conversion in an effort to identify any future revenue and performance shortfalls and upside opportunitiesMonitor production of all top accounts and evaluate trends within your market and ensure that the Sales Team is held accountable for those accounts within their respective territoriesSkills/Knowledge Required: Strong computer literacy, with knowledge of Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPointExceptional communication skills, passionate, strategic and innovativeAble to develop strong work relationships with both Clients and ColleaguesSelf-confident, proactive, and able to prioritize and make effective decisionsAbility to implement processes and methodsAbility to manage a budget and maximize customer satisfactionAbility to solve complex problems in an organized mannerPhysical Requirements: Must be able to sit at a desk, walk, and stand for up to four (4) hoursMust be able to walk and stand for extended periods of timeMust be able to bend, stoop, squat and stretchMust be able to occasionally lift up to 15 lbs.Must have finger dexterity to be able to operate office equipment such as computers, printers, multi-line touch tone phone, filing cabinets, FAX machines, photocopiers, dolly and other office equipment as neededRequires grasping, writing, standing, sitting, walking, repetitive motions, listening and hearing ability and visual acuityQualification Standards: Education: High school or equivalent education required. Bachelor's Degree preferred
Experience: Two (2) to four (4) years previous experience in a Director of Sales role at a luxury hotel
Grooming: All colleagues must maintain a neat, and well groomed appearance (specific standards will be provided)
The expected pay range for this position is $155K - $175K
