Position Title: Director of the Child Development Center
Position Type: Mid Management
Department: Continuing Education
The primary function of the center director is to assume responsibility for the organization, program and supervision of staff and students engaged in the development of age appropriate curriculum for both children and college students enrolled in the center. Also responsible for compliance with the Illinois State Licensing Standards with the Department of Children and Family Services and other governmental agencies.
Qualifications Education: Minimum Bachelor's degree, Master's degree preferred in Early Childhood Education.
Experience: Minimum of two years experience directly related to Child Care with supervisory responsibilities.
Knowledge: Specific knowledge of developmental needs of pre-schoolers.
Skills: Effective communication skills. Ability to provide leadership to motivate growth and development of Staff and, when appropriate, Student teachers; model appropriate developmental educational techniques for young children. Strong organizational and administrative skills.
Responsibilities Responsible for directing programs in the Child Development Center.
Supervises activities and curricular plans for four classrooms.
Works with contract food services to plan menus for lunch and snacks.
Coordinates with contract food services for purchasing food supplies.
Plans and conducts staff meetings for Center staff.
Supervises billing and collection of tuition for children enrolled in the Center.
Plans and conducts and supervises two parent meetings per year.
Supervises individual parent-teacher conferences.
Meets with Coordinator of Early Childhood Education Program in order to provide clinical experiences for students enrolled in the Early Childhood Education program.
Supervises all Child Development Center, and responsible for yearly staff evaluations.
Responsible for maintaining licensing standards for DCFS.
Participates in various college-wide committees.
Reviews existing equipment. Maintains replacement schedule of State of the Art Instructional Equipment.
Actively participates in the Marketing and Promotion of the Child Development Center.
Assists Staff in ongoing Assessment of Children enrolled in Center.
Responsible for maintaining enrollment and updating waiting list for each program.
Performs other duties as assigned by Dean of Continuing Education.
