Director, Sample Management & OperationsJob Description As the Director of Sample Management & Operations, you will be responsible for the implementation and ongoing operations of our field sampling program for the US Pain field force. You will be a strong collaborator with the business unit, compliance, supply chain, and technology teams to lead the delivery of the sample management operations to ensure we deliver compliant and effective sample solutions. This role will be responsible for managing vendor deliverables and budgets, monitoring and reporting of sample usage, and making proactive recommendations to optimize our sample operations and customer experience. This is a hands-on role and will require both strategic and tactical experience and expertise in pharmaceutical sampling regulations, vendor service delivery, system integrations, and SOPs to ensure the effective "end-to-end" delivery of all sampling activities.
This position is a hybrid role in Boston. You must live in the Boston area and in the office 3 days/week at minimum. Key responsibilities will include and are not limited to the following: Execute launch readiness plans for new company sampling program setup and ongoing operations for the Pain field sales and Online HCP sample order process.Define SOPs & Work Instructions for field and Online HCP sample order processes to ensure on-time and quality delivery across sample inventory, vendor services, data management, field training, and regulatory & compliance guidelines.Define and monitor reporting process to evaluate sample utilization, inventory management, vendor SLAs, and recommendations for sample allocation optimization.Work with the business unit, data Management, IT, regulatory and compliance, transparency/aggregate spend, omnichannel analytics and other internal stakeholders to ensure proper policies, procedures, execution, and optimization of all sampling channels.Optimize and recommend sample program improvements, vendor capabilities, and ensure readiness to scale for new indications or therapeutic areas within Vertex.Required Skills: High expertise in pharmaceutical field and HCP Online sample end-to-end service delivery.High expertise in development of SOPs, Work Instructions, & Field Training documentation.Expertise in brand/sales leadership collaboration and consultation for program execution optimization as well as effective field communications and support for an effective sampling customer experience.Ability to lead service vendors to ensure contractual deliverables are met, ongoing program improvements and efficiencies to continually refine and improve the sample program effectiveness.Ability to lead and partner well with internal operational delivery stakeholders including IT, Data Management, Compliance, Legal, Transparency/Aggregate Spend, and Omnichannel Analytics to align and agree to deliverables, quality levels, and ongoing inquiry/operational support service levels.Excellent communication, presentation, and external stakeholder engagement abilities.Qualifications: Bachelor's and 10 years of experience in pharmaceutical sales operations functions, with demonstrated experience in creation of new processes and procedures, field training, and vendor management.5+ years of experience in sample management operations within the pharmaceutical industry.5+ years of experience in technology, data integration, and test plans/UAT in the sales operations function within the pharmaceutical industry.Strong understanding of the life sciences industry.Proven leadership, team management skills and vendor management.Flex Designation: Hybrid-Eligible Or On-Site Eligible
