The Director of Tax reports to the Chief Accounting Officer and is a key player in our Accounting team at Intercom. This leader will guide the Global Tax department, including managing tax provisions, ensuring tax compliance, and overseeing indirect taxes. Through development of tax strategies and policies, this leader will also make a direct impact on Intercom's ability to achieve its business and financial goals.
What will I be doing? You will manage our third-party tax service providers, ensuring the timely completion of tax returns and provision requirements under ASC 740 and related financial statement disclosures. Oversee direct and indirect tax compliance, income tax accounting, transfer pricing, and planning. Manage tax provision calculations in compliance with ASC 740 and IFRS. Review R&D tax credit calculations and studies for Ireland and the United Kingdom. Lead global tax compliance filings and work with the international accounting team for timely and accurate filings. Prepare and review cash tax forecasts and calculations of federal and state income tax payments. Develop and implement tax strategies that align with business goals to optimize the overall tax position, including providing proactive advice on tax implications of business initiatives and strategic decisions. Lead all global audits and tax inquiries, collaborating with external auditors, consultants, and tax authorities for efficient resolution. Assist with preparing monthly, quarterly and annual Sales Tax filings, VAT and other domestic and international tax filings. Serve as the main point of contact for external tax advisors and regulatory authorities. Analyze and document tax positions to mitigate risks. Develop and maintain transfer pricing strategies and policies for global compliance and tax optimization. Lead and develop a tax team, fostering a culture of collaboration and high performance. Effectively communicate technical tax issues to executives and other cross-functional leaders outside of the Finance organization. What skills do I need? 8+ years of international tax accounting experience. Great at getting along with people, making connections, really listens well, and knows how to persuade and influence others. Sharp at analyzing things; pays attention to the little details and takes a thoughtful approach to figuring out tax strategies for the company. Can juggle different tasks at once and work on their own to get things done successfully. Really good at managing time and projects; can handle several projects at the same time, all while keeping up in a fast-moving and creative work setting. CPA, preferred. The base salary range for candidates within the San Francisco Bay Area is $227,800 - $288,100. Actual base pay will depend on a variety of factors such as education, skills, experience, location, etc. The base pay range is subject to change and may be modified in the future. All regular employees may also be eligible for the corporate bonus program or a sales incentive (target included in OTE) as well as stock in the form of Restricted Stock Units (RSUs).
