Job Summary

The Donor Acquisition Specialist is responsible for developing partner relationships with Waste Not donors and managing all aspects of various community initiatives that achieve the mission of rescuing perishable/prepared food in our local community. Reporting to the Director of Retail & Innovation and in partnership with Waste Not operations and the Food Donor Sourcing team, the Donor Acquisition Specialist works directly with food donors (including resorts, caterers, large-scale events planners, restaurants, and other businesses) to promote, coordinate, troubleshoot and maximize use of our food rescue technology platform, MealConnect, in order to reduce perishable/prepared food waste. The Donor Acquisition Specialist also coordinates donation logistics for our farm feed initiative which provides an additional level of perishable food rescue that keeps food waste from entering landfills.

Requirements

This position requires a significant amount of valley-wide travel from our United Food Bank offices based in Mesa, AZ. Activities will require working some evenings and weekends on rotation as part of a Food Donor Sourcing team.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following : Introducing the food service industry, and the community in general, to our food rescue app which automates the process of donating excess food Managing the day-to-day administration of the app technology, including reporting Manage geographical recruiting location selections, training, and overseeing volunteer drivers Working closely with those in the food service industry (restaurants, resorts, caterers, event venues, etc.) to educate and encourage them to use the app as their primary tool Working with Waste Not Agency staff to find homes for unique food donations, including a recipient agency that can take them, and coordinating logistics with the transportation manager Drive expansion of our food rescue reach with perishable and non- perishable food Managing all aspects of our farm feed initiative, which allows us to feed animals food not fit for human consumption, including partnerships with farms and working with our transportation manager to coordinate logistics Function as a member of the Food Sourcing Team to achieve shared goals Other duties as assigned Qualifications: Minimum of an Associate's degree; two years direct sales, two years non-profit, community relations, program, or related experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience Working knowledge of internet-based platforms, Microsoft Office suite, Google Drive, AirTable, or aptitude for learning various forms of technology Ability to obtain Serv Safe Certification (managers-level food safety certification training provided) Excellent verbal communication skills and the ability to communicate effectively with people of diverse backgrounds, as well as socio-economic levels Exhibits qualities of maturity, good judgment, and tact Ability to present in front of groups of various sizes, both in person and virtually Ability to effectively analyze and resolve routine and complex problems. Valid Arizona Driver's License Up to 75% local travel, clean driving record required Physical demands and work environment:
