Position Summary & Duties:POSITION SUMMARY
The E&I Designer position in a direct-hire position working for HGA in our office in The Woodlands, TX. The E&I Designer position supports a Lead Designer and/or Lead Engineer. Position requires field work, design, and CAD drafting in the Petro Chemical industry sector. Sizing and specifying cable tray, conduit, and wire with supervision from Lead designer and/or Lead Engineer. Creating/revising one-lines, motor schematic and wiring diagrams, loop drawings, Junction Box wiring diagrams, panel schedules, power, lighting, grounding, instrument plans and details. Preparing scope of work. Assembling IFA and IFC Construction packages.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
•Work under the supervision of the E&I Lead Designer and/or Lead Engineer.
•Understand the project scope and ask for clarifications.
•Understand the deliverables for the drawing package.
•Stay within budget hours for the assignment.
•Perform necessary field work to identify cable routings, spare motor starter cubicles, spare power panel circuits, junction box spares, spare I/O, etc.
•Prepare AutoCAD drawings.
•Ensure Company and/or Client Drafting Standards and design practices are being utilized, as appropriate for project.
•Keep Lead Designer abreast of needs and hold-ups.
•Review and interpret vendor drawings related to E&I scope.
•Check all work for completeness and accuracy prior to submitting for review.
•Complete work in an efficient manner to assist project team in meeting deadlines.
•Perform engineering/design support task, as required, such as assembling document packages, making copies, making PDF files from .dwg files, etc.
Qualifications: SKILLS AND ABILITIES•Proficient in AutoCAD 2019 or higher.
•Proficient in AutoCAD 3D modeling required. Experience with CADWorx a plus.
•Proficient in MS Excel and Word. Proficient in MS Access is a plus.
•Ability to work multiple projects at one time.
•Some interface with clients.
•Effective prioritization and execution of tasks in a high-pressure environment.
•Capability and willingness to learn, understand and apply new technologies
•General knowledge of the latest National Electrical Code and other Industry Standards.
•Candidates must be able to commute to our Houston office on a daily basis.
EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE•2 year Electrical and/or Instrument technical degree from an accredited University or trade school
•2-8 years of experience in Petrochemical industry, minimum
•Extensive knowledge of CAD software and engineering design software
•Experience with a consulting engineering firm preferred
