The successful candidate will be responsible for developing and implementing a long-term editorial strategic plan, ensuring the integrity of published content, and meeting or exceeding growth, productivity, and revenue goals. This role involves proactive project acquisition, building and maintaining relationships with authors and editors, and leading a team to meet the program's objectives. The Editorial Director will also be a key liaison with the Faculty Board, contribute to the development of publishing services, and demonstrate a commitment to the scholarly community's needs and challenges.
Applicants for the Editorial Director position at the company should have a Bachelor's degree in humanities, social sciences, or a related field, with a preference for a Master's degree. A minimum of 8 years' experience in scholarly book acquisition and at least 4 years of supervisory experience are required. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of the scholarly book business, digital communication tools, academic publishing trends, and social media. Excellent communication, interpersonal, and leadership skills are essential. The role demands a candidate who is adept at budgeting, financial forecasting, and is proficient in computer skills, including the Microsoft Office Suite. A combination of education and relevant experience will be considered, and knowledge of foreign languages is a plus.
