Mission:Durin is a mining technology company pioneering the resource extraction operations of the future. We are developing autonomous drilling control technology to decrease the cost of mineral exploration. Our business provides core drilling services to mineral exploration companies, enabling discoveries of critical materials for national security and human flourishing. Our engineering team integrates cutting-edge rig monitoring and geophysical sensors with existing and in-house drilling rigs to develop performant autonomous systems capable of providing rapid and low-cost drilling services. The team iterates quickly, testing hardware in the field daily or weekly. Located in person in El Segundo, CA, the team collaborates closely, with all team members directly contributing to the core product. Objectives:Design, develop, and implement communication procedures, sensors, power systems and wiring for autonomous drilling rigsWork closely with mechanical engineers to integrate of electrical components with other subsystemsOptimize sensors and power systems to ensure reliability in rugged field conditionsDevelop, update, and maintain electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and specifications for prototyping and manufacturingPerform testing, troubleshooting, and validation of electrical systems and components in both lab and field environmentsSelect and specify electrical components such as sensors, actuators, cables, connectors, and circuit protection devices suitable for harsh operational conditionsSupport field testing and diagnostics, analyzing performance data to recommend improvements and upgradesCompetencies: 2+ years of experience in electrical design, preferably in heavy machinery, drilling equipment, or autonomous systemsBachelor's degree (or higher) in Electrical Engineering or Computer Engineering or equivalent experienceProficiency in electrical CAD software (e.g., KiCAD, EPLAN, or similar)Strong knowledge of power distribution systems, sensor technology, motor control, and automationExperience with communication protocols such as CAN bus, SPI, I2C, or Ethernet in industrial applicationsFamiliarity with PLCs, HMIs, and embedded systems integrationExperience using oscilloscope, network analyzer, and other electrical toolsStrong experience in signal processing techniques such as filtering and modulation for tasks like noise reduction, signal filtering, and data compressionAbility to work in a fast-paced and collaborative environment to rapidly prototype and manufacture new productsExperience with field testing and working in rugged environments$90,000-$140,000 per year plus equity compensation
