Position type: Exempt
Responsibilities Create costs (Material master, BOM, and Routing in SAP) and provide necessary information calculate lead time. Communicate directly with sales and engineering team on technical requirements, providing optimal production paths to meet customer needs. Support engineering and programming team with fixture designs and custom tooling required to produce components. Review and analyze costs (planned versus actual) and make necessary adjustments after job orders are completed. Create necessary 2-D and 3-D documents to support manufacturing engineering and production team realize planned production methods. Update and maintain SAP master data and documentation, including supporting engineering change orders. Collaboratively develop final designs that meet or exceed objectives including customer acceptance, commonality, serviceability, cost, weight, & tooling. Work on process improvements and cost reduction on existing products. Provide technical support for the engineering team in design for manufacturability feedback sessions. Confer with suppliers, toolers, manufacturing, etc. to gather necessary data required for the design and manufacturing process development. Perform other assigned duties. Qualifications Minimum of High School diploma required. A two-year degree or certification in machine technology preferred. Five (5) years' experience in estimating functions in a manufacturing environment. Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and work with ASME and ISO drafting standards; familiarity with GD&T. Strong background in machining (milling, turning, drilling); experience working with high performance materials (molybdenum, tantalum, tungsten) desired. In-depth knowledge of the SAP module PP and MM preferred; other software experience is essential. Basic understanding using CAD/CAM systems. Three (3) years' experience using CAD/CAM systems preferred. Basic understanding of MRP functions in a manufacturing environment. Proficiency in MS Office software (Word, Excel, Outlook).
