Permits or access coordination Analysis of Existing Conditions Background Research and Baseline Conditions: Conduct an overall baseline assessment of the identified area, including demographic, economic, environmental, infrastructure, and housing information. Risk and Vulnerability Assessment: Collect and compile existing risk and vulnerability data for the identified area. Site History Review: Gather historical data about the site to identify potential sources of contamination.
Initial Site Inspection: Conduct a visual inspection to identify signs of contamination. Gap Analysis: Identify and develop a comprehensive list of datasets, information and/or studies that may be required to fully assess and analyze the identified area, but which are not represented in the repository of existing plans and datasets. Collect necessary data Identify and implement a strategy to collect necessary data or information, or to conduct necessary studies. Soil Sampling: Collect soil samples from various depths and locations. Laboratory Analysis (FULL RCRA): Analyze samples for contaminants such as heavy metals, pesticides, hydrocarbons, and other pollutants. Contamination Concentration: contaminants in the soil. Exposure Pathways: Identify how humans, animals, and plants might be exposed to the contaminants. Health Risk Evaluation: Assess the potential health risks based on exposure levels. Remediation Options: Evaluate different methods for cleaning up the contaminated soil, such as bioremediation, soil washing, or excavation.
