The successful candidate will be a key leader in the planning and execution of all aspects of clinical drug development, with a focus on rare disease programs. This role involves global development leadership, forging partnerships, and serving as the principal representative for the rare disease therapeutic area to a range of audiences, including executive leadership and global regulatory agencies. The Executive Director will also be responsible for people management activities, mentoring R&D personnel, and ensuring that clinical development plans are in line with the target product profile.
Applicants must have an MD or DO from an accredited medical school, at least 5 years' of industry or academic research experience, and a minimum of 6 years' of managerial experience. A strong background in biopharmaceuticals sponsored clinical research, as well as experience in medical monitoring and clinical leadership across therapeutic areas, is highly desirable. The ideal candidate will have a solid understanding of relevant areas such as biostatistics, regulatory, clinical pharmacology, and pre-clinical toxicology approaches, and be knowledgeable in GCP, FDA regulations, and international regulatory requirements. The role requires excellent communication skills, the ability to analyze complex data, and a proven track record of driving innovation in projects.
