The Executive Director, Coverys Community Healthcare Foundation (CCHF) will provide operations management and oversight for the Coverys Community Healthcare Foundation (CCHF) and be a key- contributor to Coverys' community relations activities. The CCHF is a corporate foundation focused on improving risk management and patient safety outcomes across the U.S through funded grants to hospitals, health systems, advocacy groups and other aligned organizations. In addition, the foundation directs all our corporate donations to a wide variety of both healthcare and non-healthcare charities as needs and circumstances dictate and is involved in our employee-led donations through our employee giving program.
Beyond operations management and oversight, the Boston-based position is designed to be an outward-facing liaison to the community and advocate for CCHF, actively soliciting and building partnerships with other aligned foundations and professional associations, as well as representing the foundation at industry conferences and strategic planning meetings. This is a high-visibility position within the 600+ employee Coverys group of companies and will report directly the Head of Corporate Affairs.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities Collaborate with the senior leadership to develop and execute on overall philanthropic strategies.Demonstrate exemplary leadership, driven by example, to create and maintain a culture of integrity and accountability in the Foundation.Communicate and develop appropriate donor/done relationships with aligned organizations related to funding granted education and/or quality improvement projects.In conjunction with the Grant Coordinator, provide feedback and direction to grantees and charitable organizations on Foundation priorities and build ongoing relationships with those that share our vision and values.Partner with externally facing staff to coordinate and develop community relations activities and engagement.Carry out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.Identify and implement granting and philanthropic best practices from across the foundation industry.Partner with Foundation committees and Foundation staff to prepare RFPs for potential grantees that explicitly convey desired target audiences, educational goals and objectives, funding parameters and outcomes expectations.Present CCHF and community engagement updates to the Coverys Board of Directors as needed.Identify and source new opportunities for partnerships with CCHF and CoverysReview and evaluate charitable donation and grant requests to make recommendations to committee and corporate leadership.Review interim and final grant reports and assist in development of corporate impact and foundation annual reports.Manage Foundation marketing and PR strategies in concert with Corporate Communications.Accurately forecast and report on Foundation financials and operational status.Plan, monitor and adjust annual Foundation budget on a weekly basis.Communicate effectively both internally and externally to reflect Foundation guidelines, objectives, outcomes and corporate philosophies.Limited travel required - industry conferences and 3-4 partner organization meetings per year. Education, Experience, Competencies & Values BA/BS degree minimum is preferred 5-10 years' experience in a leadership role working within a corporate foundation, community relations, corporate affairs or other grantmaking organization, preferred.Interest in making a measurable difference in healthcare risk management and patient safetyBasic knowledge and understanding of the importance of, and need for, patient safety in healthcare organizations; the educational needs of particular healthcare groups; and the learning/execution gaps in patient safety and risk managementStrong interpersonal and organizational communications skillsSome marketing and public relations strategy experience, preferredStrong organization, budgeting, and long-term planning skillsFamiliarity with Corporate Social Responsibility practices including Diversity, Equity and InclusionFamiliarity with tracking, reporting and articulation of the impact and scope of Foundation and community relation activities, programs, contributions and grantsAn extraordinary level of personal initiative and accountability/responsibility to staff, partners, and fund recipientsKnowledge of CRM and/or Grant Management software preferredStrong written and formal presentation experience preferredExcellent computer skills, including: Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and SharePoint.
Annual base salary range is $160,000 - $190,000. Individual compensation packages are based on a variety of factors that are unique to each candidate including location, skill set, experience, qualifications and education.
