The successful candidate will be responsible for the day-to-day operations of the Commission, acting as the chief executive officer, and working in partnership with the public and private sector to implement policies that impact the community. This role involves promoting awareness of hearing loss issues, maintaining strong public relations, and engaging with various stakeholders including the Governor's office, Legislature, and the media. The Executive Director will also be involved in strategic planning, and budgeting, and must have a deep understanding of deaf culture, communication methods, and relevant federal and state statutes.

Applicants for the Executive Director position at the company should have a Bachelor's degree in a related field or 10+ years of experience, with a preference for a Master's degree or 5+ years of experience specifically in programs or services for the deaf and hard of hearing. The role requires strong leadership, organizational skills, and the ability to communicate effectively, both in writing and public speaking. Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) and knowledge of hearing technology used by the hearing loss community are also highly valued. The ideal candidate will be adept at strategic planning, and budgeting, and have the ability to work with diverse stakeholders while maintaining a high standard of performance and upholding the principles of public administration.
