The successful candidate will be a communicative and creative leader with excellent analytical skills, capable of envisioning the library's future and inspiring a dynamic team to achieve an impact-oriented mission. Responsibilities include working with the Board of Trustees to sustain and develop outstanding library services and facilities, representing the library at various levels, and overseeing library operations and staff. The Executive Director will be expected to demonstrate principled librarianship, effective leadership, and a commitment to community welfare.

Applicants for the Executive Director position at the company must have a master's degree in library science from an ALA-accredited program, with at least 5 years of public library experience, including a minimum of 3 years in a senior administrative role. The role requires the ability to lead and inspire a large team, develop and implement effective budgets and strategies, and ensure the library's mission and goals are advanced. The ideal candidate will have a history of innovative and award-winning librarianship, and a strong background in community engagement. The Executive Director will also be responsible for obtaining State of Maryland licensure as a Director/Professional Librarian within six months of hire.
