The Ocean Community YMCA located in beautiful Southern Rhode Island, is seeking an Executive Director for our Westerly-Pawcatuck Branch.
The Executive Director will:
• Develop, manage, and monitor the branch operating budget and meet or exceed budget targets.
• Lead the branch in the annual budget development process and annual support campaign.
• Have to be a sound fiscal manager generating income from membership dues, program fees and contributions to conduct the work of the branch efficiently and effectively.
• Work with Membership Director to develop and direct high quality member engagement strategies and programs which support branch and Association mission, goals, and strategies.
• Ensure that membership growth and program development relate to community needs and the mission of the association.
• Oversee the hiring, training, and supervision of staff including using leadership skills to recruit and develop cause driven staff that is member and service focused.
• Provide leadership to the Westerly-Pawcatuck Board of Managers to ensure the branch is prepared to meet community needs and services.
• Make sure all staff and volunteers work effectively together on annual campaigns and special events.
• Direct the branch's strategic planning efforts which include multiyear plans as well as annual.
• Ensure the safety of all members and staff by providing safe, clean, and well-maintained facilities, property, and equipment.
• Be the Branch spokesperson, by representing and promoting the YMCA in the local community and develop and maintain positive working relationships with other organizations, businesses, and community members.
• Provide leadership and direction in crisis situations in unison with the communication plan of the Association.
• Oversee programs provided to the community including swimming and sports leagues, gymnastics, enrichment classes, day camps, childcare room, and older adult programs.
Essential Functions:
• Manage the branch in accordance with the policies, procedures, and standards established by the Ocean Community Board of Directors.
• Manage a total operating budget of $3.8Million.
• Oversee the 60,000 square foot facility including the gymnasium, pools, locker rooms, wellness center, child watch, group exercise studios, enrichment classrooms, teen center, and spin studio.
• Provide leadership to 9 full-time directors, about 300 part-time staff, and several hundred volunteers.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree plus 5-10 years of successful operational and management experience. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Proven track record of successful fundraising. Must be computer literate with MS Word and Excel skills. Ability to manage multiple projects and others in a fast-paced environment. Experience in managing a not-for-profit organization's staff, volunteers, facility, and budget.
Job Type: Full-time-exempt.
Salary Range: $78,000-$84,000/year
