*** The Executive Director (ED) is the key management leader of Lectores para el futuro.
Lectores para el futuro is a non-profit organization, incorporated in 2012 under the name Multisensory Reading Centers of Puerto Rico, Inc. (MRC).
MRC was born with the purpose of increasing the expert human capital to respond to the needs of Puerto Rican students who face challenges in the process of acquiring and mastering reading.
The ED is responsible for overseeing the administration, programs, staff and strategic plan of the organization.
Other key duties include fundraising, marketing, and community outreach.
The position reports directly to the Board of Directors (BoD).
Responsibilities: 1) Leadership and Management: Define and manage the implementation of the strategic plan and initiatives.
Build and maintain a strong, collaborative working relationship with the BoD.
Responsible for the management and administration of the organization, including but not limited to, staff recruitment, performance management, legal matters, financial planning and marketing.
2) Financial Performance: Oversee and monitor the annual budget and forecast.
Lead and manage fundraising planning and implementation, including identifying resources requirements, researching funding sources, establishing strategies to approach funders, and submitting proposals.
Oversee grant and/or donor proposal submission and presentations.
3) Community and Public Relations: Act as the primary spokesperson for the organization.
Establish and maintain relationships with various organizations and utilize those relationships to strategically enhance the organizations mission.
4) Human Resources and Staff Management: Supervise and collaborate with organization staff and the academic program.
5) Board Governance: Report to and work closely with the Board of Directors to seek their involvement in policy decisions, fundraising, and to increase the overall visibility of the organization.
Coordinate and deliver updates to the Board of Directors as part of the Board meetings (at least quarterly).
Education: Bachelors or masters degree in education, non-for-profit or business administration related field.
Experience: 3+ years of managing or leadership experience in a non-for-profit organization 3+ years of experience in education related matters Certificates and Licenses: Fully bilingual in Spanish and English.
Strong written and communication skills is required in both languages.
