SUMMARY
This position aims to assist the program in providing services to families through linkage to community services and resources. The Family Enhancement Worker provides supportive intervention services to families through the CWS Referral Program to reduce risk and strengthen family functioning.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following:
1. Provide in-person contact with the family to assess service needs weekly.
2. Provide community-based referrals for services to families through interaction with collateral contacts, service providers, and other pertinent entities.
3. Maintain verbal communication with families.
4. Obtain all necessary consent for the release of information forms.
5. Follow all IDCFS rules and procedures pertaining to confidentiality.
6. Provide transportation to and from appointments, such as the doctor, WIC, etc., if applicable.
7. Participant in consultation/supervision with supervisor regarding each assigned family.
8. Assist with household budgeting.
9. Help family with homemaker-type services/support with cleaning.
10. Provide parent coaching and other resources related to parenting.
11. Attend all identified training and maintain knowledge of content.
12. Be available for crises outside of normal business hours, when necessary.
13. Perform all other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE High School Diploma or GED. Some college courses preferred. Experience working with or providing services to individuals, children and families. Strong knowledge of Microsoft office. Willingness to working with the culturally diverse population (community we serve), experience preferred. Knowledge of allocated demographic community resources available to service individual, children and families, preferred. Knowledge of infant, child and adolescent development; trauma, mental health, substance abuse, and domestic violence experience preferred. Knowledge or experience serving multi-stressed families, preferred. Open to reflective practice (capacity for introspection). CERTIFICATE
Must currently possess an Illinois Department of Children and Family Services Child Endangerment Risk and Protocol (CERAP) certification or be eligible to participate in the Illinois Department of Children and Family Services (IDCFS) training curriculum and examinations to become Child Endangerment Risk and Protocol (CERAP) certified
OTHER QUALIFICATIONS AMHW employee shall obtain and maintain certification in first Aid and CPR. Certifications must be obtained within 3 months of employment. Current driver's license. Current auto insurance. Have reliable personal vehicle to transport clients Clear driving record. Ability to work late hours, weekends and weekends, as needed. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Strong time management and organizational skills. Excellent interpersonal skills. Ability to respond to crisis calls and situation 24 hours a day, being available, when needed for crisis or regular job responsibilities.
