**The Ohio Department of Healths Bureau of Health Improvement and Wellness** **is seeking one (1) candidate to fill our available Food Access Coordinator (Public Health Nutritionist) position.**

**Official Position Description**
50% - Provides nutrition consultation and technical assistance to public health nutritionists, local grantees and other stakeholders regarding population-based, evidence-based policies, systems and environmental changes. Plans, implements, and evaluates nutrition components of Health Promotion programs annual work plans in meeting program objectives (e.g., program assessment, planning, implementation, evaluation, program sustainability). Develops and implements food access components of the statewide program especially nutrition as related to chronic diseases. Assists in preparation of or prepares grant proposals/applications. Reviews local grant applications to determine appropriateness for funding, required revisions and special conditions. Clarifies and interprets nutrition standards and recommendations particularly related to obesity, heart disease, stroke, hypertension, diabetes, chronic lower respiratory disease and cancer for Health Promotion Program staff, and other stakeholders. Designs and implements nutrition interventions to achieve Health Promotion Program goals and coordinates services with other local and state programs. Evaluates nutrition programs and interventions to determine effectiveness and recommend changes.
20% - Plans, implements and evaluates food access interventions, trainings and resources for state and local funded grantees and other stakeholders. Works with Ohio Department of Health (ODH) program staff in development of program plans and materials involving nutrition-related elements (e.g., Food Access Policy, Food Policy Council, nutrition incentives, fruit &vegetable prescriptions, healthy nutrition options in all settings, farmers markets). Interprets and clarifies research on dietary factors related to the prevention and control of chronic diseases such as heart disease, stroke, cancer, and diabetes. Recommends evidence-based training programs and educational materials, and obtains data to meet identified needs (e.g., SHIP indicators for nutrition and physical activity, nutrition interventions in worksite and community settings, return on investment for nutrition policy, system and environmental changes). Assists program manager in development of grant proposals, data reports, and administrative duties.
20% - Participates in the development and evaluation of Preventive Health and Health Services (PHHS) Block Grant annual report and plan. Prepares weekly activity reports and other reports related to program activities and progress. Updates nutrition components of websites for Health Promotion. Assists program and ODH dietitians in nutrition related activities. Provides overview of nutrition component of the Health Promotion program to dietetic and public health students and interns.
10% - Attends committee meetings, conferences, seminars, and/or symposiums as assigned (e.g. Ohio Nutrition Incentive Network, Ohio Food Policy Network Steering Committee, Farm to School, State Nutrition Action Committee) to keep abreast of trends, best practices, other developments, and to expand knowledge related to nutrition and chronic diseases. Provides information to others (e.g., general public, other agencies and programs) as requested. Prepares newsletter articles, presentations, and materials using appropriate software and methods. Participates as member of committees in development of related conferences and planning groups with the Bureau of Health Improvement and Wellness to improve overall coordination of public health nutrition. As assigned, serves as a member of a disaster recovery/business resumption team, incident response team, or similar public health response team which may include the conduct of operations on a 24/7 basis at remote locations.
**Qualifications**
**Minimum Qualifications**
**1. Requires current licensure as dietitian as issued by Ohio Board of Dietetics per Section 4759.06 of Ohio Revised Code, & must be able to provide own transportation.**
Training and development required to remain in the classification after employment: Annual renewal of license to practice as dietitian.
