Puerto Rico Terminals, operating the largest, most efficient cargo facility in Puerto Rico – accommodating vessels of all types and sizes, is seeking an Accounts Payable Specialist to join the team.
In this position you will:
be responsible for performing day-to-day financial activities of the organization. This includes recording cash transactions and journal entries, performing bank reconciliations and account analysis, but not limited to, maintaining customer master file and provide collection efforts. Ensure adherence to company policy and procedures, compliance with financial regulations, maintaining accurate and up-to-date accounting records. Develops and maintains appropriate business relationships with customers, vendors, regulatory bodies, and other business units.
Main Duties and Responsibilities Include:
Responsible for accurate cash application to customer accounts and preparing periodic reports.
Daily reconciliation of cash batches to bank activity.
Provide credit & collection notifications and documentation of unequal payments.
Processing of refunds, bad debt write-offs and contributions as requested within company policy.
Actively pursue overdue payments and record collections efforts.
Analyze the accounts receivable aging report to identify and address aging balances.
Reconciliation of the A/R sub-ledger to the general ledger to close the A/R sub-ledger on a monthly basis.
Manage and update master vendor file in FSM accounting software.
Control and monitoring of any parts inventory, including periodic physical count.
Record interest expenses, payments and manage debt obligations.
Prepare monthly account reconciliations, account analysis, or other related items as requested.
Review and post outstanding journal entries to ensure accuracy and appropriate documentation.
Perform month-end closing procedures as requested.
Prepare weekly operation report for distribution to managers and board of directors.
Prepare and/or assist in the capital expenditures request and approvals.
Track, receive/download, and code (process) all terminal/vessel payroll invoices and vendor's service invoices; maintain electronic filing systems; define procedures for record retention and security.
The ideal candidate will have:
Bachelor's Degree in Accounting
Three to five years related accounting and finance experience
Bilingual English/Spanish required
