Summary
The Golf Operations General Manager is responsible for a variety of tasks on the grounds and in the pro shop. Adept in managing golf operations, including but not limited to: Golf Operations Staff Management and Training, Point of Sale, Tee Time Reservations, Golf Tournament Sales and Execution, Golf Shop Sales and Merchandising, Cart Fleet Management, and the ability to build relationships with customers.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Oversees the management and daily operations of the Golf Shop, Guest Services, and the Practice and Teaching Center.
Responsible for ensuring that overall objectives, policies, programs, and fiscal practices of golf operations are implemented, administered, and maintained.
The Golf Operations General Manager will be responsible for delegating to subordinates appropriate authority to fulfill portions of assigned responsibility but may not delegate or relinquish overall responsibilities for results or any portion of final accountability.
Ensure daily operations standards are followed every day.
Make sure all areas are clean and always stocked with necessary supplies.
Ensure that all arriving guests are properly greeted, questions are answered, and directions given as needed.
Provide exceptional customer service.
Ensure golf carts are clean and staged for guest use.
Properly set up the driving range and keep it functioning safely.
Maintain a clean and well-organized cart barn.
Ensure that all required cart maintenance procedures and repairs are made timely.
Manage and maintain constant communication with the Starter/Greeter, Golf Shop, Cart Attendants, Player Assistants, and Golf Course Maintenance.
Ensure that all departing guests are properly greeted, questions answered, directions given, and thanked for visiting the facility.
Keep all areas clean and well organized.
Supervise Driving Range Operations, including:
Range ball picked regularly.
Wash range balls.
The range ball machine is kept filled as needed.
Must regularly lift and move up to 65 pounds.
Keep the Driving Range Tee area neat, clean, and organized at all times.
Perform and manage all required opening & closing procedures and security of the owner's assets.
Perform other duties as requested by WGP Corporate Staff and/or Regional Directors.
Requirements
Three years prior work experience in the golf or hospitality industry.
Public golf course experience preferred:
Tournament Sales & Management
Golf Operations Experience
Golf Shop Experience
PGA Member or Associate preferred.
Technology Experience required:
Point of Sale Experience required:
Tee Sheet / Reservation management system experience required.
Windows Office Suite experience required.
Web-based operating system experience required:
Basic Payroll Management preferred.
Customer service experience.
Experience supervising and scheduling employees.
Punctual and reliable.
Exceptional grooming habits including maintaining clean and complete uniform as designated by Management.
Required to be available for work on all major holidays and weekends.
Physical, Environmental, Cognitive and Social Requirements:
Sitting, standing, walking, reaching, stooping, bending, twisting, kneeling, pushing, pulling, grasping, standing for long periods of time, sometimes outdoors exposed to moving mechanical parts, outside weather conditions (hot and cold), and moderate to loud noise level. Frequently required to stoop, bend, crouch, squat, climb, kneel, in and out of golf carts, and to twist at the neck and waist, reach above and below shoulder level, push and pull when retrieving, storing, and moving golf bags; use dominant hand and fingers to feel and grasp, push and pull, and for fine manipulation to detail carts, clean clubs, and use two-way radios.
