Your Role You will be responsible for providing strategic legal advice and support on a wide range of corporate matters. The Head of Legal / General Counsel will report to the Chief Financial Officer and will be the primary point of contact for all legal matters, engaging with and managing external counsel as needed. The ideal candidate will be a strong generalist with expertise in laws/regulations related to employment, business operations, and CPG.
Responsibilities and Duties Manage the Companys general corporate legal activities including corporate governance, regulatory, and employment and HR matters Partner with all areas of the business including Finance, Operations, Marketing and Product Development to advise on legal risk and business strategies Draft, review, negotiate, and track a wide range of complex business agreements including commercial contracts and financing deals to ensure both business and legal objectives are met Act as primary point of contact for all legal matters, manage relationships with outside counsel and manage legal budget Advise on matters related to claims substantiation and product safety, including strategies to minimize and mitigate enterprise risk Define and advise on advertising and marketing guidelines both for internal stakeholders and third-party partners Conduct periodic compliance reviews against external and internal policies including consumer privacy regulations, HR policies, and advertising regulations; advise on mitigations as needed Develop and/or contribute to legal response strategy as needed Qualifications and Skills Experience:
J.D. degree from an accredited law school 6+ years of relevant legal experience, with a focus on marketing, advertising, food and consumer protection law Solid knowledge of state, federal, & global privacy laws, including CCPA and GDPR Ability to prepare clear, concise, and complete legal documents, reports, correspondence and other communications on complex legal issues Track record of excellence in corporate law including drafting commercial contracts and designing compliance processes Experience hiring, leading, and developing high functioning legal professionals to build a world class legal department In-house experience at a consumer-packaged goods company or law firm experience representing consumer products companies required Interpersonal:
Team-player, hard-working, organized, & entrepreneurial in nature Excellent analytical skills and a strong attention to detail Outstanding written and verbal communication as well as interpersonal skills Empathetic leader who can contribute positively to O Positivs culture Works well managing multiple responsibilities and can prioritize to effectively handle tight deadlines. Hours and Compensation The anticipated base compensation range for this role will be $185,000-$215,000. Compensation will be commensurate with the candidates experience and local market rates.
