The Head of Technology Strategy, Execution & Optimization is a critical role that oversees the Business Technology Solutions (BTS) division's financial comptrollership and technology vendor management functions. This executive-level role will report directly to the Chief Technology Officer and will have a high level of impact and visibility across Save the Children. The new Head will lead the division's budgeting and finances, and partner closely with the Chief Financial Officer to manage the strategic allocation of funds. They will oversee supplier governance and optimize vendor relationships and performance. This role will require technical expertise and will lead the enterprise architecture team along with supporting all BTS staff performance and growth.
What You'll Be Doing (Essential Duties) Technology Financial Controllership (20%) Lead budgeting and financial stewardship for the division, ensuring robust management and optimal allocation of resources.Conduct detailed Value Capture Analysis to verify the realization of ROI, identifying gaps and implementing data-driven decisions to drive value.Foster sustainable business practices and guide the BTS organization towards resilience and growth.Harness innovation and technology to add greater value to the organization.Strategic Partnership with CFO Organization (10%) Act as the primary liaison to the CFO organization, fostering strong financial alignment and integration.Collaborate on financial strategy, risk management, cost controls, and investment decisions.Leverage data and insights into financial performance to be a catalyst for efficiency and effectiveness of operations.Provide effective IT vendor management to mitigate risks to SCUS and control for service quality.Guide vendor/supplier selection, contract management, performance monitoring, and risk management for the BTS organization.Oversee Supplier Governance to ensure compliance with organizational standards and objectives.Enforce contractual deliverables post-award, in close collaboration with legal and finance teams, to safeguard organizational interests.Monitor vendor performance rigorously, handling arbitration to maintain service quality and alignment with expectations.Enhance and improve the vendor management process to improve efficiency and build stronger vendor relationships.Management, Employee Experience & Knowledge Enhancement (10%) Develop a high-performing, functional team integrated into a matrixed BTS division who understands and delivers solutions for the needs of the mission, business, and users, managing individual and team needs with goal setting, prioritization, and professional development.Train, develop, coach, lead, and supervise staff, clearly communicating organization, division, and department priorities, and how their work contributes to our mission, ensuring that the working environment continually fosters diversity, inclusion, and belonging – supporting Save the Children values.Drive employee training, upskilling, and knowledge management initiatives across BTS to enhance skills and performance, promote the adoption of new capabilities and best practices, facilitate agility and innovation, navigate complex challenges, and ensure healthy collaboration and partnership across the organization.Collaborate with the People & Culture to measure, analyze and monitor employee satisfaction (CSAT, NPS).Strategic Planning & Capability Maturity Model Oversight (15%) Lead the BTS Division's financial, workforce, and business forecasting process.Establish, maintain, and publish the division's Capability Maturity Model (CMM) benchmarks and progress scorecard to track and communicate maturity advancements.Partner closely with BTS Senior Management Team (SMT), SCUS Finance, and other SCUS divisions, and Save the Children International (SCI) to ensure strategic alignment and resource optimization.Guide and support the organization's overall enterprise architecture as a technology expert across all architecture domains. Leverage new and leading enterprise architecture to power business and technology transformation.Manage the Enterprise Architect Team ensuring seamless integration of domain architects across data, cyber, solution through effective dotted line/matrix management practices.Governance and adherence to EA standards from design to documentation.Provide consultation for the agency's digital transformation goals and implement solutions that drive business value.Guide the development of best practices in technology architecture.Required Qualifications Minimum of a Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience, plus at least 15 years of relevant experience.Demonstrated experience planning and managing multiple pieces of work and making strategic and operational decisions.Demonstrated experience leading innovative solutions and managing strategic IT planning processes.Proven familiarity with moderate to advanced information management practices.Demonstrated experience and track record of successfully managing a team.Proven transformational leadership skills and experience managing through multiple diverse technologies and processing environments.Demonstrated familiarity or experience with user-centered design and design thinking.Demonstrated ability to manage various stakeholder needs and simplify complex problems through a compelling narrative.Demonstrated ability to collaborate strategically and successfully with individuals at all levels of the organization.Demonstrated ability to anticipate and work through organizational change, both internal and external.Professional proficiency in MS Office suite.Professional proficiency in spoken and written English.Demonstrated ability to communicate and collaborate effectively with individuals and teams at all levels, both internally and externally.Demonstrated commitment to fostering and maintaining an environment of diversity, inclusion, and belonging.Preferred Qualifications Experience in agile product management.Experience in leading an architecture group.Experience leading a vendor management office.Compensation Save the Children is offering the following salary ranges for this position, dependent on candidate location:
Geo 1 - NY Metro, DC, and other locations with labor costs significantly above national average: Target Salary for this position is $188,700 – $210,900 base salary.Geo 2 - Locations around the US National Labor Cost Average: Target Salary for this position is $171,700 – $191,900 base salary.Geo 3 - Locations significantly below the US National Labor Cost Average: Target Salary for this position is $154,700 – $172,900 base salary.The salary ranges listed above are for US-based candidates. For candidates located outside of the US, salary ranges will be based on the salary scales of the local employer of record.
Actual base salary may vary based upon, but not limited to, relevant experience, base salary of internal peers, business sector, and geographic location. Employee may be eligible for an incentive program.
