Duties
Duties include, but are not limited to:
Performs remote telemetry monitoring for patient located in Medicine, Surgery and Coronary Step Down.
Monitors patients at the central monitoring station.
Notifies appropriate personnel of minor/major/life threatening cardiac rhythm disturbances.
Operates the Central Monitoring Station and telemetry equipment efficiently and ensures high quality information and visual display of patients' tracing.
Responsible for the maintenance of accurate CPRS documentation as well as data input for all information generated to formulate a permanent record of the EKG and tracking of all patients on remote telemetry.
In collaboration with Biomedical Engineering Department personnel, troubleshoots and
identifies potential equipment malfunction.
Maintains cleanliness of the telemetry station and unit remote equipment.
Maintains adequate levels of supplies for performance of duties.
Responsible for the maintenance of critical skills including interpersonal, organizational, technological, and leadership.
Shows initiative, assuming responsibility for unassigned work and appropriate use of time.
The HT working schedule priority is to meet patients' needs.

Physical Requirements:
This work requires regular physical exertion to include but not limited to walking bending, reaching and stretching to set up equipment. During the cardiac monitoring time, demands are sedentary in nature with opportunity to stand as needed. It requires manual dexterity to
operate computer key board. The HT must be able to visualize monitors, various equipment, and computers screens. Accurately utilizes the senses of hearing, seeing, smelling, and/or touch in patient observation and care.

Individual Occupational Requirement:
Positions in this series range widely in type and include support duties to medical or health personnel such as audiologists, speech pathologists, medical officers, and optometrists. Therefore, technician experience is experience that required application of the knowledge, methods, and techniques of the position to be filled.
In addition to the Individual Occupational Requirement, you may qualify based on your experience and/or education as described below:
GS-06 grade level:
One year of specialized experience (equivalent to the GS-05 grade level in the federal service); experience that equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills and abilities (KSA's) and other characteristics to perform successfully the duties of the position, and that is typically in or related to the work of the position to be filled, in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization. Specialized experience includes:
1) Knowledge of the biological and Physical manifestations of disease as they relate to the underlying abnormalities and physiologic disturbances of the human body. 2) Uses proper clinical procedures to perform medical test. 3) Knowledge of medical information and /or terminology related to the diagnoses, treatment, and prevention of human injuries and diseases. 4) Uses knowledge that is acquired though formal training or extensive on-the-job experience to perform one's job. 5) Works and communicates with clients and customers.
There is no educational substitution for the GS-06 level.
Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religions; spiritual; community; student; social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
