Job Description
Under the direct supervision of a Registered Nurse, sets-up and operates dialysis machine.
Job Responsibility
Sets-up and operates kidney dialysis machine, under the direct supervision of an RN.
Verifies the machines' conductivity with an external conductivity meter and checks dialysate PH and temperature.
Checks water treatment system's total chlorine and records results on the log. Reports readings of 0.1 ppm to the Registered Nurse.
Logs water hardness as per policy.
Monitors patient's vital signs and dialysis machine readings during dialysis and reports abnormal findings to the Registered Nurse.
Adheres to infection control policies.
Mixes bicarbonate dialysis and places the system in DI bypass if the R/O is in a fault condition. Records resistivity meter readings.
Assists RN in providing nursing care to patients.
Draws and prepares blood specimens for transport to laboratory or shipment to transplant center.
Uses dialysis clinical information system to document patient's treatment on hemodialysis flow sheet. Keeps hard copy records as necessary.

Job Qualification
High School Diploma or equivalent, required.
Hemodialysis Technician certification from an accredited school/agency (i.e. BONET, NNCC, etc), required.
Minimum of one (1) year directly related experience, required.
BCLS certification, required.

The salary range for this position is $30.79-$33.36/hour
