About the job:
The Health Information Specialist II performs a variety of functions in the HIM Department to ensure service levels are met by analyzing medical records for deficiency and quality; interacting with parents and collecting the necessary information for completion of the birth certificate; and providing support to the document imaging process.
What you will do: Collects the necessary data elements for the completion of the birth certificate as required by state law through interacting with the parents, abstracting medical records, database entry, electronic submission of information and working with the parents to gather data that is required for the Acknowledgment of Paternity Affidavit. Reviews and analyzes inpatient and outpatient medical records for completeness. Assigns deficiencies and ensures follow up where necessary. Provides support to document-imaging tasks, including preparation, scanning, and quality of the scanned documents in the legal electronic record. What we are Looking for: High School graduate is required. Associate Degree in Health Information Management preferred. Certification as a Registered Health Information Administrator or Registered Health Information Technician preferred. Experience: One (1) to three (3) years of related experience.
