The Sacred Heart Retreat House is a spiritual oasis which brings the People of God into a deeper union with Him so that they can become a beacon of light and love to others. We do all we can to provide an atmosphere of respect, quiet and joy to facilitate an encounter with God for each person.

Purpose of Your Job Position:
The primary purpose of your position is to perform various services in relation to the general upkeep and cleanliness of the buildings and equipment of Sacred Heart Retreat House.
Position Requirements Qualifications and Education Requirements: Ability to speak and understand English at a moderate level of fluency for job safety Duties and Responsibilities Guests' Room Cleaning Cleans guests rooms following set procedures which includes removal of trash, dusting, wiping surfaces, vacuuming, sweeping, mopping, cleaning windows, making beds, and bathroom cleaning and sanitation. Uses designated materials and cleaning chemicals to perform cleaning tasks. Checks rooms when cleaning for anything requiring repair. Notifies supervisor according to set procedure using maintenance forms. Restocks standard set supplies in rooms. Prepares rooms for guests' arrival including placing complementary and promotional items in designated spots of room. Inventory Conducts weekly and yearly inventory of linen and supplies as requested by supervisor. Notifies supervisor in advance when supplies or linen are running low in order to assure timely re-ordering. Cleaning Public Areas Cleans all public areas including meeting rooms and halls, dining rooms as assigned, offices as assigned, restrooms, and interior corridors. Cleans according to set procedures which include those listed above. Cleans using designated material and cleaning chemicals. Monitors public areas during use as assigned to maintain cleanliness. Outdoor Cleaning Assists with cleaning projects out of doors including but not limited to wiping hand rails, tables, and chairs. Assists gardeners with light grounds work when indoor areas are not accessible due to use by guests. Logistics Arranges furniture in meeting rooms and halls according to designated set ups for guests. Assists in moving items as needed for the various functions of the Retreat House. Laundry Washes, dries, irons (as needed), and folds bed linens, towels, cleaning rags, blankets, bedspreads, and guests clothing. Commercial and residential type equipment is used. Cross Training Is cross trained to be able to assist in kitchen tasks including manual and machine dish washing and food preparation including preparing meals for retreats/programs as scheduled. The Kitchen Supervisor will assign kitchen duties as needed. As member of the staff of Sacred Heart Retreat House, is responsible for knowledge of and practice of all safety policies and procedures. Is responsible to record working time accurately and give notice of errors to my supervisor immediately. Working Conditions: Be on feet for extending periods of time either walking or standing in one place Intermittently walk 4 acre campuses Is subject to regular interruptions in request for assistance Exposure to dust and chemicals that are potential irritants Skills and Job Requirements: Must be able to able to work in a team environment Must be able to receive and implement constructive feedback from others Must possess the ability to prudently make independent decisions when circumstances warrant such action. Must possess the ability to deal tactfully with personnel, retreatants, guests, benefactors, vendors and the general public. Must possess the ability to plan and organize as necessary for carrying out job functions to the highest quality standards of the industry. Physical and Sensory Requirements: Must be able to be on feet and move constantly throughout the workday Must be able to see and hear or use prosthetics that will enable these senses to function adequately to assure that the requirements of this position can be fully met Must be able to bend, squat, crouch, and reach overhead Must be able to climb a ladder of at least 10 feet Must be able to push, pull, move, a minimum of 35 pounds a minimum distance of 100 feet Must be able to lift a minimum 25 pounds alone and a minimum of 50 pounds in partnered lifting to a minimum height of 5-7 feet Full-Time/Part-Time
