To strengthen our Team in Puerto Rico, we are looking for anHSE Specialist
Your role
Support the HSE Manager with establishing, implementing, and maintaining MM Packaging Occupational Health, Safety and Sustainability policies, procedures, and programs to ensure compliance with local, state, and Federal environmental, occupational health, and safety regulations. Perform specialized tasks, and other duties to promote and ensure a safe, healthy, and environmentally sound work environment.
You assist with general environmental, health, and safety policies, procedures, and programs to be followed by company or plant personnel in compliance with local, state, and federal environmental, occupational health, and safety regulations.
You conduct and document inspections and internal audits of MM Packaging PR facilities and various programs to detect existing or potential hazards or risks and provide recommendations for corrective action or preventative measures. Inspect areas of the various facilities, machinery, equipment, and working conditions to ensure compliance with all local, state, and federal regulations.
You assist in the investigation of incidents and accidents to ascertain causes for use in recommending preventive environmental, occupational health, and safety measures, and the development of effective preventive programs. Prepare reports of findings with recommendation for corrective action and follow-up.
You assist or provide training classes pertaining to environmental, health and safety related subjects to various personnel within the company.
You maintain files and records as required by environmental, health and safety regulations, such as: Near Misses, Incidents log, Contractors Program, annual inspections, among others. Audit the files on a quarterly basis to ensure compliance.
You maintainstrack of PPE inventory, and requests the quotes for materials needed for the department.
You conduct and document the inspection for fire-fighting equipment, spill containment, eye wash stations and emergency lights, among others.
You assist in developing new programs and procedures following OSHA, EPA, and Waste Minimization.
You foster a culture of safety and environmental responsibility throughout the organization.
You assist in reviewing and participate in the Emergency Response Program.
You ensure all environmental equipment is properly maintained.
You evaluate and recommend new equipment. Keeps abreast of engineering technological developments.
You support both Puerto Rico facilities: Manatí & Guaynabo. Available to travel/drive to both sites, as needed. Work agenda to be planned and agreed with HSE Manager on a weekly basis and once per month, support the 2nd and 3rd shift.
You perform other miscellaneous duties as required.
Your Profile
You need a 4-year undergraduate BS degree in Occupational Health & Safety, Environmental Sciences or a related field.
You have minimum of 3 years of experience in Health and Safety preferred.
You need strong knowledge of Occupational Health, Safety & Environmental Regulations.
You have a strong communication skills – written and verbal with bilingual skills (English & Spanish).
Basic knowledge of FDA cGMP's preferred.
Experience in Printing industry preferred.
You have a good computer skills, knowledge of MS office.
You have strong leadership skills while maintaining effective communication and interactions with superiors and colleagues.
You need assertiveness and uncompromising attitude with regard to the safety & quality standards applied in the day-to day activities
