A law firm in Oak Park, IL is seeking an Immigration Attorney to join their team. Reporting to the Sr. Associate Attorney, the Immigration Attorney will handle a diverse caseload, interact with clients, and work closely with a dedicated team of attorneys and legal assistants. This role requires a professional with 1 to 4 years of experience in immigration law who is adept at managing cases and providing strategic legal solutions.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Report to the Sr. Associate Attorney and manage an individual caseload of immigration cases.
Explain complex immigration concepts and present strategic solutions to clients.
Represent both non-detained and detained individuals in removal proceedings before the Immigration Court and the Board of Immigration Appeals.
Manage a high volume of cases and ensure timely progress and resolution.
Conduct intakes with detained individuals at centers and gather necessary information.
Prepare a range of immigration applications, including removal defense and family-based petitions.
Review immigration applications and packets, making any necessary adjustments.
Collaborate with law enforcement, prosecutorial offices, and community-based organizations on immigration law updates and changes.
Meet with potential clients for strategic immigration consultations and devise appropriate legal strategies.
Develop case strategies and prepare clients and witnesses for court and USCIS testimony.
Provide legal analysis to identify any potential benefits and prepare legal briefs for various immigration cases.
Maintain organized case files and documentation.
Requirements:
At least 1 to 4 years of experience in Immigration Law.
Proven ability to manage a caseload and advance legal cases effectively.
Experience with Family-Based Petitions, Humanitarian cases, EOIR, Detained cases, Citizenship, and other USCIS applications.
Familiarity with case management software is preferred.
Education and Certifications:
Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.
Active license to practice law in Illinois.
Skills:
Strong understanding of immigration law and procedures.

Ability to handle multiple cases and prioritize tasks effectively.
