This position would perform field surveys primarily in San Juan, Puerto Rico, and other locations as needed.
MFS, an innovative, dynamic engineering and surveying firm, looking for driven, career-minded individual to fill the Instrument Operator position in our Survey division based out of San Juan, Puerto Rico.
Successful candidate must have valid driver's license and be physically capable and willing to perform full day outdoor work in this position. You will be expected to perform work year-round, in varying weather conditions, that may be wet, cold or hot. You will have to carry equipment and lift heavy objects. You may be required to work nights and weekends. The Instrument Operator would work under the direction of a Party Chief. Experience with Leica, Trimble or Nikon data collection software is preferred including running the data collector and inputting proper codes. Knowledge and ability to collect data in a manner acceptable for field to finish procedures is highly desirable. We are willing to train in the operation of the specific total station.
Responsibilities:
Operate a total station, optical level, GPS as directed by the Party Chief.
Assist Party Chief in any and all field work.
Collect and code data for topographic, utility, boundary, wetlands, other types of surveys.
Perform construction layout.
Utilize total stations, optical levels, and GPS.
Requirements:
Minimum 1 year of experience as an instrument operator.
Experience with Leica, Trimble or Nikon total stations.
Experience in topographic/boundary survey and construction layout.
Ability to react positively to difficult project assignments.
Must possess a valid driver's license and have a clean driving record.
Must be willing to travel throughout mainland Puerto Rico, including Vieques, Culebra, and the U.S. Virgin Islands.
Desire to pursue a career in surveying.
Undergo a background check (required).
Preferences:
Experience with robotic total stations is a plus.
