The Interim Manager of Development Operations will play a critical role on the Development team during a Director's leave of absence. This position comes at a crucial time as the organization embarks on a 150th Anniversary Capital Campaign. The Interim Manager will provide operational support to the campaign and work closely with external consultants.
The role requires exceptional organizational skills, attention to detail, experience in database management (Salesforce preferred), as well as budgetary and supervisory experience. The Interim Manager will be responsible for monitoring and tracking monthly, quarterly, and annual budget expenditures and will assist the Chief Development Officer in budget development. This role is essential in implementing the operational and administrative strategy of the development team, ensuring effective project management, campaign planning, and interdepartmental workflows to meet critical deadlines
This temporary engagement is anticipated to begin early to mid-October and continue for approximately six months.
RESPONSIBILITIES Oversee the management and maintenance of the fundraising database, ensuring data integrity and supporting the team with data entry, cleaning, and upkeep.Manage all Development data tracking, reporting, and analytics, ensuring accurate and timely outputs.Lead departmental database systems and oversee intra- and interdepartmental workflows, including coordination with Business Systems, Finance, and Marketing teams.Project manage development operations consultants and provide operational support for the 150th Anniversary Capital Campaign.Ensure the timely completion of projects and maintain comprehensive team awareness of all timelines and deliverables.Manage the annual development calendar, facilitating the on-time execution of cultivation, stewardship, and appeal activities, including setting key timelines and strategies.Assist the Chief Development Officer and Individual and Director of Institutional Giving by preparing major gift solicitations, stewardship materials, moves management, and tracking.Provide strategic support for the Planned Giving program, including donor identification, follow-up, compliance, and knowledge of planned giving vehicles.Supervise the Development Systems Administrator, ensuring accurate gift entry and acknowledgments.Manage and maintain electronic filing systems to ensure proper record-keeping.Collaborate with Finance to forecast and track development revenue and expenses, acting as the primary liaison for income tracking, expense management, forecasting, and budgeting.Serve as the primary liaison with Business Systems and consultants (ECHO) for development-related technology needs; generate standard and custom reporting and dashboards to support strategic decision-making.Coordinate with Marketing to align project management timelines and ensure consistent messaging across Development initiatives.Maintain accurate and up-to-date content on Development-related webpages, including online acknowledgment/tax letters.Create and manage donation webpages for online gifts, event registration, donations, and sponsorships.Maintain and monitor the Individual/Annual Giving pipeline, generate gift reports, and ensure the accuracy of dashboards to track progress. REQUIREMENTS BA/BS degree required or equivalent combination of education and experience5+ years of progressively responsible nonprofit development experience or the equivalentSalesforce experience requiredExperience managing information-based projects and processes on strict timelines, from inception through completion and follow-upExperience with budget creation and managementKnowledge and understanding of nonprofit finance processes as they pertain to fundraising/developmentOutstanding organizational, multitasking and time management skills and detail orientedSuperior oral and written communication skillsExcellent interpersonal skills, as well as ability to establish and maintain good working relationships with other departmentsWork well under pressure and ability to prioritize changing workloadsDemonstrate ability to hold confidential information with excellent judgmentStrong computer skills; proficiency with MS Office suite and Salesforce. This is an onsite position, with occasional remote work possible based on department schedules, deadlines, and priorities. This position requires working occasional evening and weekend hours, as determined by annual Development events.

HOURS/SCHEDULE
Full-time; 40 hours per week, standard business hours; occasional evenings and weekends in support of Development events
