In search of an experienced Internal Audit Officer to provide oversight of the bank's audit program. The desired candidate will provide strong leadership skills and advanced expertise in banking audits, internal controls, regulatory compliance, and the experience of interacting with examiners and auditors. The preferred applicant should be familiar with and able to coordinate multiple audit engagements with external audit firms, as well as provide oversight of the SOX and/or FDICIA Internal Controls Management Program, including development of the program, monitoring the control audit process, and providing audit progress reports. Bachelor's degree required, banking experience a must with strong knowledge of bank audit procedures, internal controls and regulatory compliance. Audit and/or compliance certification is preferred. DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned. Track exceptions identified in audits/exams in order for policies and procedures to be current and in compliance. Perform follow-up procedures in response to compliance-related exams by independent
auditors, outside accountants, and bank examiners. Present documentation for follow-up process as requested. Provide oversight of the SOX and/or FDICIA Management Program. This includes
developing the scope & mapping of the program, Risk Control Matrix, monitoring the control audit process, and providing audit progress reports. Work with examiners and auditors to ensure the bank receives an external attestation of the bank's internal controls over financial controls. Improves internal controls by recommending changes in management monitoring,
assessment, and motivational practices in the internal control structure, and in operating processes; identifies root causes of identified control deficiencies. Analyzes data obtained for evidence of deficiencies in internal controls, duplication of effort, fraud, or lack of compliance with laws, government regulations, and management policies and procedures. Assesses compliance with policies and procedures, financial regulations, and internal control best practices by executing SOX and/or FDICIA testing program steps, and/or coordinating the internal control testing if outsourced to an outside audit firm. SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
Directly supervises two or more full-time employees. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in
accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; motivating staff to meet required performance levels and bank goals; evaluating performance and coaching to improve performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; making salary increase recommendations; and addressing complaints and resolving problems.
