Manages the accounting for pooled investments, endowment funds, specific purpose funds and donations. Implements and maintains systems that provide accurate and timely information for managed funds including funding sources and fund requirements. Implements and ensures compliance with internal controls that minimize financial statement risk and fulfills the hospital's and medical center's fiduciary responsibilities to monitor spending to ensure compliance with donors' requirements.
The Manager, Investment, Donation & Endowment Accounting (IDEFD) will be responsible for:Managing accounting of temporarily and permanently restricted funds, including donations, endowments, estates, and trusts received by the hospital/medical center, as well as board-designated strategic funds, in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).Managing accounting of funds held for others, such as professional service funds and PPQI funds, while partnering with stakeholders in physician foundations and other areas to provide timely, accurate, and actionable reporting.Collaborating with other finance departments and external audit partners to facilitate quarterly reviews and annual audits of financial statements. Ensuring account reconciliations are prepared and approved, eliminating entries are accurately prepared for consolidation of hospital and physician organization financial statements, and variances with physician foundations are resolved. Preparing footnotes for financial statements disclosing contribution and endowment-related activity.Performing periodic financial analyses of managed funds/accounts, including month-end, quarterly, and annual reporting for Finance Senior Leadership.Preparing work papers for the annual 990 Tax filing for the Director of Tax and financial regulatory compliance.Recruiting, interviewing, and selecting candidates for employment. Developing department staff by assigning projects that provide professional growth opportunities, coaching staff, providing ongoing constructive feedback, and delivering timely annual evaluations. Ensuring staff compliance with department/hospital policies and initiating corrective action plans in consultation with the HR Consultant when needed.Providing internal management reporting on the use of strategic investments (e.g., research endowment and royalty revenue) to support research, including TIDO and the VP of Research. Implementing hospital spending rule policies regarding the use of investment income to support operating activities.Supporting the Trust in its operations, establishing new funds, and processing adjustments. Managing the interface of pledge and gift activity from Blackbaud CRM to PeopleSoft, ensuring efficient and accurate processes and systems.
