The Lead Accountant will play a pivotal role in overseeing our accounting department, ensuring accurate financial reporting and compliance with regulatory requirements.

Responsibilities Oversee the daily operations of the accounting department.
Prepare and review financial statements and reports in accordance with GAAP.
Manage budgets and forecasts, providing financial insights to guide decision-making.
Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal financial regulations and laws.
Supervise and mentor junior accounting staff, fostering a culture of learning and development.
Coordinate audits and liaise with external auditors to ensure a smooth audit process.
Develop and implement accounting policies and procedures to enhance efficiency and accuracy.
Responsible for several duties, including performing routine general accounting activities such as AP, AR, Sales/Use Tax, Property Accounting, Journal Entries, Account Reconciliations, and prepares various accounting statements and financial reports.
Has knowledge of commonly used practices and procedures within the accounting field.
Perform activities related to the accounts payable function including entering, reviewing, coding and processing payments.
Perform account receivable functions including invoicing, deposits, collections, and revenue recognition Maintains general knowledge of cost centers, spend categories, and budget authorities Compile Sales & Use Tax reports and filings for multiple states Conduct reconciliation of general ledger accounts on an as needed basis Prepare financial reports for various departments Interpret and apply accounting policies, rules, and regulations to all work to ensure compliance with US Generally Accepted Accounting Principles.
Support with Special projects and other duties as assigned Requirements Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
CPA certification is highly preferred.
Minimum of 5 years of progressive accounting experience, with at least 2 years in a supervisory role.
Strong knowledge of accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, SAP) and MS Excel.
Experience with online banking software.
Excellent analytical skills and attention to detail.
Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks.
Exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal, to effectively convey financial information.
Fluent in Spanish and English.
Must be extremely knowledgeable in Puerto Rican accounting and tax laws.
Must work on location near Humacao, Puerto Rico.
