Description/Duties

This recruitment will be used to fill one (1) part-time, non-benefited Lead Guest Experience Associate vacancy; six (6) part-time, non-benefited Guest Experience Associate vacancies; and one (1) full-time Guest Experience Associate vacancy at the i.d.e.a. Museum. This recruitment will also be used to establish an eligible list to fill potential future vacancies. The part-time positions classifications have been designated as non-classified, non-merit system, at-will positions. First review of applications will be Monday, August 12, 2024, and then every week thereafter. Lead Guest Experience Associate ($37,033.78 - $51,749.36 annually) ($17.80 - $24.88 Hourly)

A Lead Guest Experience Associate is primarily responsible for monitoring museums and Guest Experience Associates; monitoring the opening and closing of the museum and related activities; assisting with training, supervising, supporting, and evaluating of part-time staff, volunteers, and interns that includes monitoring staff schedules and coordinating breaks and rest periods; coordinating and communicating room set-ups and transitions; and assisting with activity, workshop, and class preparation. This position supports all activities related to the guest experience including the support of museum admissions, group visits, classes and programs enrollments, and the general administrative tasks in these areas including communicating and assisting visitors and guest experience staff and responding to concerns; maintaining the safety and security of the gallery and being the primary point of contact during emergencies; greeting and orienting groups, class participants, and birthday party attendees; and effective communication between Guest Experience Associates and administrative staff. This class performs related duties as required.

This class performs all the duties of the Guest Experience Associate; however, is distinguished from these classifications by the lead supervision responsibilities. This class is supervised by an Office Supervisor or Museum Education Curator who reviews work through conferences, meetings, observations, participant feedback, and overall results achieved. Employees are required to work weekends and special museum events, which may include evenings and some holidays. This class is FLSA non-exempt.

Guest Experience Associate ($35,308.62 - $49,339.06 annually) ($16.98 - $23.72 Hourly)

A Guest Experience Associate is responsible for interacting with general public patrons to provide information on activities, programming, rules, and to encourage individual and/or caregiver participation; attending exhibit-based training; cleaning/tear down and maintaining general gallery and activity areas; ensure the safety of all museum visitors; collecting museum admissions and cash handling; maintaining related records; and maintaining and securing the gallery. Other duties may include assisting with the This class performs related duties as required. Employees may be appointed to one of the assignments listed below.

i.d.e.a. Museum Assignment: A Guest Experience Associate is responsible for providing a positive customer and museum experience. Associates are responsible for monitoring and maintaining gallery activities and exhibits, supporting school tours, and maintaining the overall safety of the museum. Staff regularly work with caregivers and young children to support and inspire early learning creative experiences. Additional duties include processing museum admissions, selling museum memberships, completing light administrative tasks, supporting museum events and regularly using technology. Weekend availability required.

Lead Guest Experience Associate Minimum Qualifications Required. Any combination of training, education, or experience equivalent to graduation from an accredited college or university with an Associate's Degree in Museum Studies, Art, Art History, Science, Social Science, Business, Education, Child Development, or related fields. Good (1 - 3 years) customer service, office clerical, cash handling, and/or public contact work.

Preferred/Desirable Qualifications. Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Bachelor's degree in Museum Studies, Art, Art History, Science, Social Science, Business, Education, Child Development, or related field is preferred. Some (6 months - 1 year) lead or supervisory experience. A minimum of one year with the City of Mesa as a Guest Experience Associate is preferred.

Guest Experience Associate Minimum Qualifications Required. Graduation from high school or GED. Some (6 months - 1 year) experience providing direct customer service; working with school age and/or pre-school age children; or cash handling experience.

Preferred/Desirable Qualifications. Previous experience working with or supervising young children. Experience in art, art history, education, and/or child development.
