East Lake Academy seeks a Learning Specialist who is enthusiastic about being part of our Catholic education team. The Academy is an independent Catholic elementary school on Chicago's North Shore. JOB SUMMARY:
Special Education Teacher develops and provides specialized instruction to meet the unique needs of students with disabilities; evaluates and assesses student progress against instructional objectives; and communicates with families on progress of individualized student goals.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF THE JOB MAY INCLUDE BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO THE FOLLOWING: Provides research-based specialized instruction to address the instructional goals and objectives contained within each student's Service Plan. Monitors student progress using approved assessments, and determines the need for additional reinforcement or adjustments to instructional techniques. Provides regular progress reports to family and school. Collaborate with families, teachers, and other service providers. Provides consultation to classroom teachers regarding classroom adaptations, instructional modifications, adaptive equipment, behavior modification plans and other similar instructional interventions to meet the needs of students with disabilities. QUALIFICATIONS: Illinois Professional Educator License with Learning Behavior Specialist 1 endorsement (preferred) Excellent verbal and written communication skills Self-motivated with demonstrated time management and organizational skills Ability to analyze student academic and behavior data for instructional purposes Thorough knowledge of best practices and procedures in effective teaching of students with special needs. Thorough knowledge of school rules, regulations and procedures; ability to establish and maintain standards of behavior. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with children, students, parents, staff, and administration. Demonstrate an understanding of confidentiality requirements for protecting students. Cursory understanding of proportionate share under IDEA/ESSA law Understanding of the differences among IEPs, SPs, and 504 plans A positive, can-do attitude that sees the potential to grow and learn in all students Application Procedure:
