The Risk Management Director is responsible for developing, implementing, and training Avenica's clients teams on risk management programs to ensure the safety of their temporary employees and clients. This role oversees compliance across all branches, collaborates with legal teams on cases, and investigates claims.
Duties and Responsibilities: Manage the investigation, negotiation, and resolution of claims in line with policy provisions, best practices, and jurisdictional requirements. Promote a safe and healthy work environment to prevent and minimize workplace injuries and associated costs. Assist with injury prevention, accident investigations, and monitor claim activity. Partner with injured workers, medical providers, third-party administrators (TPAs), defense counsel, vocational counselors, nurse case managers, and private investigators. Oversee claims management, working closely with carriers and TPAs to ensure efficient claims adjudication, including pursuing light duty assignments, making accurate compensability and subrogation decisions, ensuring proper reserving practices, and monitoring medical and legal management to contain costs. Analyze case data by reviewing information from documented calls, PC data, and document images to determine appropriate responses. Serve as a safety officer, ensuring the safety program complies with legal and regulatory standards, and acting as a liaison with agencies such as OSHA. Review and assess risk management policies through risk analysis, making recommendations for improvements and implementing changes. Provide supervision and leadership to the workers compensation team (2 direct reports: Workers Comp Specialist & Risk Manager) on legal requirements, claims procedures, and company policies. Qualifications: Bachelors degree in Business Administration, Risk Management, Human Resources Management, Employment Law, or related field, or equivalent experience. Certifications such as Associate in Risk Management (ARM), Certified Risk Manager, Certified Safety Professional (CSP), OSHA certifications, or other related certifications are a plus. 10+ years of experience in risk management, insurance, or claims management. In-depth knowledge of policies, laws, regulations, and practices related to risk management, safety, insurance, loss prevention, claims management, and hazardous materials. Experience with the legal system, including contract issues, small claims, and lawsuits. Knowledge of Human Resources laws and policies related to workers' compensation, employee leave, and state and federal legislation. Understanding of OSHA and Hazardous Materials (HAZ MAT) laws and regulations, as well as industry best practices. #AV1
