As a Maintenance Technician - Electrical Specialist you will be responsible for supporting Production and Operational needs while focusing on problem solving, troubleshooting and maintaining material handling equipment such as conveyors, sortation systems, stamping presses, ancillary equipment, feedline machines, scales and installing any electrical needs throughout the plant along with assisting in the everyday maintenance needs of the plant as needed.

WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING (% of Time)

Install, troubleshoot, start-up, and provide electrical maintenance on all existing and new plant/facility equipment. Integrate existing and new equipment, as needed. Identify, maintain, and troubleshoot electrical controls. Communicate technical issues to maintenance, facilities and operations management. (40%)

Perform maintenance needs of the plant as needed. (30%)

Create, design, and fabricate, as needed, for electrical improvements and installations (20%)

Educate fellow peers on any additional skills necessary to improve the department. (10%)

DESIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

High School Diploma or equivalent or a combination of education and experience is required. Degree or certificate in electrical engineering or related field required, or equivalent experience. Simpson Strong-Tie Powered Industrial Truck (PIT) Certification (will certify at hire) required. 5 years minimum experience in electrical controls and industrial equipment. 7 years minimum experience in industrial maintenance experience. Safety: Strongly understand and ensure compliance with LOTO and energy isolation. Strongly understand and ensure compliance with the NFPA 70E-Electrical Safety in the Workplace, NFPA 70 (NEC), and OSHA Standards. Help to improve the safety culture. Dependability: Able to consistently demonstrate reliable and punctual attendance. Maintenance knowledge: Have experience supporting a wide range of different conveyors, sortation systems, and large manufacturing equipment within an IACS (Industrial Automation Controls System). Familiarity with Stamping Presses and related equipment is preferred. Working knowledge of mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems is required. Ability to understand how an industrial plant is powered, wired, and controlled by electricity. Understand and effectively install electrical components, wiring, conduit, transformers, bus disconnects, junction boxes, and all electrical necessary to meet local and federal codes. Project management skills. Ability to effectivity manage and participate in large scale projects involving installing new equipment, relocating existing equipment. Moving equipment such as stamping presses, feeders, straighteners, reels, ancillary equipment, etc. Software and technology: Proficient with Microsoft Office: Word, Excel, Outlook, and Power Point. Proficient with AutoCAD. Experience with Smartsheet is preferred. Ability to learn new software including, but not limited to, CMMS. Ability to be creative. Design and fabricate. Be able to take an idea from concept to paper to reality. Teamwork: Maintain a collaborative approach in dealing with other Simpson Strong-Tie employees. Ability to work on projects with other team members. Focus and Results: The ability to concentrate on a task over time without being distracted. Speaking and Communication: Communicate effectively with co-workers, listen with full attention to what other people are saying while understanding the needs expressed, and ask questions appropriately. Having the ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, vendors, and other organization employees are also necessary. Mathematics: Knowledge of advanced arithmetic, algebra, geometry. Ability to read, interpret, and understand blueprints, schematics, and diagrams is required. Self-Management: Ability to display a high level of initiative, effort, and commitment towards completing assignments in a timely manner. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, see, talk and hear. The employee is occasionally required to sit. This role operates large equipment while standing for approximately 8-12 hours, regularly twisting and bending in a repetitive motion. While performing the duties of this job, the employee may frequently lift, carry, push and pull materials and objects weighing up to 50 pounds, and heavier weights with proper equipment.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

The job may risk exposure to heat and/or cold, loud noise levels, vibration, and moving mechanical parts.

TRAVEL REQUIRED

This job requires less than 5% domestic travel.

WORK STATUS & LOCATION

This full-time, non-exempt position is located in Columbus, OH.

RELOCATION

Relocation is not available for this position.

PAY

$27.12 - $43.37 / hour
