SUMMARY: Exelixis is seeking an SEC Reporting Manager to expand our team and scale our capabilities and support the growth of the Company. The SEC Reporting team is a key component of the Accounting department having the primary responsibility for SEC filings including the quarterly and annual report on Form 10-Q and 10-K, as well as supporting other SEC filings and investor communications including 8-Ks, registration statements, proxy statements, press releases, conference call scripts and investor conference materials.
The SEC Reporting Manager should have a strong foundational knowledge of SEC reporting and Sarbanes Oxley (SOX) compliance. This person should have hands-on experience in the quarter and year end processes for SEC reporting with strong attention to detail, excellent verbal and written communication skills.
This person will report to the Associate Director, SEC Reporting and work with the Technical Accounting Team, Accounting, Tax, FP&A, Legal, Investor Relations and other members of the organization as needed for the preparation and/or review of the financial statements, footnote disclosures, management discussion and analyses, in accordance with US GAAP and SEC regulations. This person may also interface with outside auditors to support the external audit and quarterly review process.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Assist in the preparation of the Company's SEC documents (10-Q, 10-K, 8-K, Proxy and registration statements) Review and/or preparation of the supporting schedules for financial statements, footnote disclosures, management discussion and analyses, and maintaining complete tie-out documentation under the Company's SOX controls Assist in the preparation of portions of the GAAP and SEC disclosure checklists Assist in collecting and synthesizing edits received from management, auditors, and attorneys to ensure all comments/edits are addressed and closed Assist in the quality assurance reviews and final sign-off on XBRL tags Execute proper procedures to ensure adequacy and effectiveness of internal controls over financial reporting Assist in providing supporting documentations to the internal and external annual audit and quarterly review process Provide support in the preparations of other SEC filings and investor communications including 8-Ks, press releases, conference call scripts, investor conference materials Perform ad hoc disclosure benchmarking research of peer group companies Assist in project management of the planning, coordination and execution of the annual and quarterly SEC reporting processes. SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: None EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE/SKILLS: Education: BS/BA degree in Accounting and five years of related experience; or, MS/MA degree in Accounting and two years of related experience; or, Equivalent combination of education and experience. Experience: Three years of relevant work experience at a public company. Experience with Wdesk (Workiva) or other SEC Reporting platforms and knowledge of XBRL tagging. Experience with SAP/ Hana a plus. Knowledge: Knowledge of US GAAP, SEC reporting and SOX. Highly self-motivated with strong interpersonal communication skills, including excellent verbal and written communications. Analytical and problem-solving skills. Exceptionally detail and service oriented. Proficient in Microsoft Office applications (Excel, PowerPoint, Word). JOB COMPLEXITY: Works on SEC filings and related projects in a very fast-paced dead-line driven environment where issues or data analysis quires evaluation of multiple factors. May also participate on complex issues where analysis of situations or gathering data requires an evaluation and communication of variable factors. Exercises judgment in suggesting methods, techniques and evaluation criteria for obtaining results. Networks with key contacts outside own area of expertise including internal legal, investor relations, accounting. Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across severalU.S. geographic markets, and we pay differently based on those defined markets. The base pay range for this positionis $121,000 - $170,000 annually. The base pay range may take into account the candidate's geographic region, which will adjust the pay depending on the specific work location. The base pay offered will take into account the candidate's geographic region, job-related knowledge, skills, experience and internal equity, among other factors. In addition to the base salary, as part of our Total Rewards program, Exelixis offers comprehensive employee benefits package, including a 401k plan with generous company contributions, group medical, dental and vision coverage, life and disability insurance, and flexible spending accounts. Employees are also eligible for a discretionary annual bonus program, or if field sales staff, a sales-based incentive plan. Exelixis also offers employees the opportunity to purchase company stock, and receive long-term incentives, 15 accrued vacation days in their first year, 17 paid holidays including a company-wide winter shutdown in December, and up to 10 sick days throughout the calendar year.
