Overview As Managing Director, you will utilize data-driven and outcome-focused management to guide resettlement, employment, skills training, education, and community services programming delivered using a hybrid model across a region that spans Eastern Massachusetts. You will build and manage a large team, leading staff recruitment, supervision, and professional development. This position supports the development of program funding proposals, management of program expenses, program monitoring and evaluations, and ensures compliance with contractual obligations. This position sits on the IINE Leadership team and ensures strong communication and coordination with central office leaders including the Chief Human Resources Officer, Chief Financial Officer, and the Senior Vice President, Advancement. Reporting to the Chief Program Officer and supervising the Senior Program and Contract Manager, Community Services Manager, Career Services Manager, the Associate Director of ESOL, and the Office Administrator.
Department: Programs, GeneralReports to: Chief Program OfficerSupervises: Senior Programs and Contracts Manager, Community Services Manager, Career Services Manager, Associated Director of ESOLStatus: Exempt, Full-TimePosition Format: HybridPay Rate: $121,000-$145,000/yearResponsibilities Responsible for the planning, development, and implementation of all programs, including grant and contract development, reporting, and policy setting for program activities.Assess and evaluate program effectiveness and outcomes to ensure responsiveness to client needs. Work with program staff to implement program modifications to reflect contractual regulations, client needs, and the IINE mission and goals.Monitor required documentation, data collection, and reporting for all contracts/programs and ensure that programs comply with IINE goals and contractual guidelines.Develop or expand new programming in the areas of education, employment, skills training, community services, and citizenship that are financially sustainable.Build relationships and partnerships with community-based and student-serving organizations.Plan and deliver quarterly staff training in coordination with Lowell and Manchester sites.Serve on IINE Leadership team and help develop, implement, and maintain short and long-term site plans and objectives within the scope of Institute-wide policies and goalsFinance & Operations Manage program expenses across all contracts and grants, including on-site expense allocations and spending of program funds within the annual site budget.Help draft annual site budget, including salary allocations, in concert with the Finance Department and Chief Program Officer.Oversee the administration of services and case managementSite Management Interview, hire, and orient new staff at the Boston site.Oversee screening and management of program interns and volunteers.Supervise and evaluate direct reports.Provide professional development opportunities that align with staff needs, contractual regulations, and programmatic needs.In coordination with the Operations team, manage the Boston office calendar and evaluate space and material needs for the site.Supporting the stewardship and growth of a robust volunteer and internship program.Identify client and program stories that can be highlighted in the IINE quarterly newsletter, blog posts on the IINE website, social media, the annual report, and foundation proposals.Work closely with the Development and Grants staff to maintain relationships with community leaders, funders, employer partners, and stakeholders that may have a direct impact on programming, clients, and services.Plan community-facing events to celebrate client heritage and the refugee experience.Required Skills/Abilities Passion for the mission of IINE and a commitment to providing exceptional service to our clients.Attuned to working across languages and cultures, able to demonstrate cultural competency.Ability to deliver on ambitious goals and benchmarks.Strong, calm presence and ability to provide the team with a clear sense of direction, especially in times of change.Excellent track record of leading, managing, and developing high-performing teams.Strong analytical skills and use of data to drive decision-making and to build consensus/support for evidence-based solutions.Exceptional listening, trust-building, and ability to lead inter-personally and through delegation.Excellent problem-solving, operational, and communication skills.Proactive attitude, sense of humor, and ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment.Willingness to work evenings and weekends as required.Education & Experience 3+ years relevant professional experience in program and contract management, preferably managing social and community-based programs, departments, or organizations.3+ years of experience in program delivery required.3+ years of experience in program design and development/grant writing required.3+ years of experience with data entry, systems and reporting to public funders; familiarity with Apricot and Salesforce preferred.3+ years of demonstrated experience managing, supervising staff and building successful teams and culture3+ years' experience with community building3+ years' experience in budgeting and financial tracking required.Specific experience in developing and managing successful adult education programming preferred.Experience in a multi-cultural/multi-lingual workplace required.Demonstrated experience managing professionals in programs required.Work Environment Conditions The Managing Director is required to travel to the Boston office.Travel to the other site and community eventsOccasional night and weekends events and work.Exposure to bright, overhead office lighting, use of office technology such as laptops, printers, mail machines, and other in-office equipment.Physical Demands Occasional lifting, pushing, and pulling materials (boxes, equipment) of 50 pounds or more.Continuous sitting (or standing) at a desk for long periods of time.Occasional driving to and from IINE offices as neededCovid-19 Policy IINE does not require applicants for most positions to show proof of Covid-19. Some federal contracts, however, require IINE staff to show proof of Covid-19 vaccination, and some immigration status adjustments, such as a Green Card, require proof of Covid-19 vaccination as well. Consequently, for some positions, IINE staff may be required to show proof of vaccination, and in others, IINE staff will be supporting clients who are required by law to have proof of vaccination in order to adjust their status in the United States.
