The successful candidate will be a strategic, creative, and collaborative leader with a strong commitment to social, racial, and economic justice. This role involves providing strategic leadership and day-to-day management of all strategic communications, including overseeing a small team, and ensuring the organization's narrative is effectively communicated to engage local elected officials and advance campaign goals. The Managing Director will also be responsible for rapid response work, crisis communications, and maintaining the organization's brand and identity.

Applicants must have a minimum of 10 years of strategic communications experience, with at least 3-5 years in a management role, and a proven track record of using narrative change strategy to advance a progressive policy agenda. The role requires an advanced understanding of branding, design, and visual communications, as well as exceptional writing and editing skills. The ideal candidate will be technologically savvy, with experience in a variety of communication and media platforms, and possess strong organizational and budget management skills. A commitment to the values of the organization, the ability to build and maintain strong relationships, and a focus on results and collaboration are essential. Bilingual candidates with experience in Spanish language media will be given special consideration.
