Overview

A member of the Manufacturing Engineering (ME) team focused on production support with the responsibility of being a first responder to product and process issues in manufacturing. Assists and often leads the design, fabrication, and installation of improved processes, tools/fixtures, and workspace/layouts under the direction of ME team members and/or ME supervision.

Duties and Responsibilities: Support quality goals by containing and investigating raw material and/or product quality issues to root cause while also implementing initial corrective action(s) as applicable. Strong involvement and/or co-champion of CAPAs and Product Quality Reports (PQRs) with ME team members. Cross-functional consultation and strong written reports and/or project plans expected. Collaborates with production leaders, Manufacturing Operations Project/Program Managers (OPMs), quality/regulatory leadership, and the ME team to validate and release new (or improved) products and processes into manufacturing. Support manufacturing by diagnosing and resolving equipment malfunctions and measured product or process (including automated test) variances. Ability to lead or co-lead projects centered on the recommendation, design, and implementation of operational improvement ideas balancing safety, quality, delivery, and cost. Support new product introduction (NPI) by assisting in the design/development and installation of new manufacturing machinery, workstations, fixtures, and test systems. Occasionally develop new standard work documentation and oversee the determination of time standards. Lead and/or participate in line level continuous improvement activities such as the implementation of Opportunities for Improvement (OFI), 6S and Lean initiatives, and Kaizen events. Support ERP systems by determining and administering changes to manufacturing routesand/or BOMs. Provide training to others when applicable. Learn and apply structured methods for problem solving, process and data analysis, and process improvement. Use and/or update basic project management plans/schedules to organize cross functional projects. Qualifications: Associate degree in a technical area of study and 3-5 years of related technical experience in a production/manufacturing environment or the equivalent combination of education and experience. Demonstrated moderate to advanced computer skills (email, spreadsheets, documents, etc.)including 2D/3D CAD systems. Proven ability to interact with engineering prints and familiarity with inspection methods used to determine conformance. Demonstrated experience with quality management system and processes such as NCM, CAPA, Document Control, etc. and product management processes (such as Deviation, ECO/ECR, etc.). Ability to review and edit/improve manufacturing and engineering documents (procedures, work instructions, drawings, etc.). Demonstrated strong independent creativity with process design and improvement and utilize structured problem solving leading to efficient and strong outcomes. Demonstrated technical problem-solving skills in a manufacturing (or similar) environment. Demonstrated organizational skills with the ability to manage time and resources effectively, which includes the ability to work independently as well as part of a team. Skilled at leading or co-leading project review meetings for smaller technical projects and/or improvement (Lean, etc.) events. Strong understanding and demonstrated use of primary and secondary part fabrication methods used in most standard machine shops and assembly & test operations. Physical Requirements:

Ability to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise maneuver up to 35 pounds with or without assistance on a routine basis. Must have manual hand dexterity to grasp, operate tools and equipment repetitively. Able to walk, stand, sit, bend, reach, and occasionally kneel, climb steps, and twist throughout an entire shift. Some areas may be exposed to chemicals, noise, vibration and /or dust, and require the use of appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE); such as, but not limited to safety glasses, hearing protection, foot protection, etc.
